9 F URNACE S USPENSION If suspending the furnace from rafters or joists, use 3/8" threaded rod and 2”x2”x1/8” angle iron as shown below . The length of rod will de- pend on the application and the clearances necessary .
10 Most homes will require outside air be supplied to the furnace area by means of ventilation grilles or ducts connecting directly to the outdoors or spaces open to the outdoors such as attics or crawl spaces. The following information on air for combustion and ventilation is reproduced from the National Fuel Gas Code NFP A 54/ANSI Z223.

21 • If an air conditioning coil is installed with the furnace, a common drain may be used. An open tee must be installed in the drain line, near the cooling coil, to relieve positive air pressure from the coil’s plenum. This is necessary to prohibit any interference with the function of the furnace’s drain trap.

32 C HECKING D UCT S TATIC Refer to your furnace rating plate for the maximum ESP (external duct static) rating. T otal external st atic refers to everything external to the furnace cabi- net. Cooling coils, filters, ducts, grilles, registers must all be consid- ered when reading your total external static pressure.

34 NOTE: This furnace is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the burner . Do not try to light the burner by hand. 5. Move the furnace gas valve manual control to the OFF position. 6. Wait five minutes then smell for gas. Be sure to check near the floor as some types of gas are heavier than air .
35 NOTE: If measuring gas pressure at the drip leg or Honeywell VR9205 gas valve, a field-supplied hose barb fitting must be installed prior to making the hose connection. If using the inlet pressure tap on the White-Rodgers 36G54 gas valve, then use the 36G V alve Pressure Check Kit, Goodman Part No.
36 3 . Calculate the number of seconds per cubic foot (sec/ ft 3 ) of gas being delivered to the furnace. If the dial is a one cubic foot dial, divide the number of seconds recorded in step 2 by one. If the dial is a two cubic foot dial, divide the number of seconds recorded in step 2 by two.
37 C IRCULATOR B LOWER F AN T IMING A DJUSTMENT NOTE: Items in this section refer to the air circulator blower fan NOT to the induced draft blower . The induced draf t blower timing sequence is not adjustable. The circulator blower fan timing is adjustable only on models with optional “heating fan OFF delay” adjustment pins or switches.
38 (M ODE DIP S WITCH IS SET TO “2 STG” POSITION ) The normal operational sequence in sequence is as follows: • R and W thermostat contacts close, initiating a call for heat.
39 P RIMARY L IMIT The primary limit control is located on the partition panel and monitors heat exchanger compartment temperatures. It is a normally-closed (electrically), automatic reset, temperature-activated sensor . The limit guards against the overheating as a result of insufficient conditioned air passing over the heat exchanger .

41 6 . Remove the recuperator coil turbulators individually by slowly pulling each turbulator forward firmly . 7. Clean the recuperator coil tubes using a long handle wire brush, such as a gun cleaning brush.
