1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The LCD (liquid crystal display) mo nitors have an active matrix, th in-film transistor (TFT) panel. The monitor models and fea tures include: ● LA2006x model, 50 .

2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If an other cord is used, u se only a power source a nd connectio n appropr iate for th is monitor. For inform ation on th e correct po wer cord set to use with the monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Set Requirements on page 40 .
● Install the monitor n ear an outlet that you can easily reach. Discon nect the monitor by gras ping the plug firmly and pullin g i t from the outlet.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the monito r, computer system, a nd other attached devices, then follow the instructions below. Unfolding the Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor fro m its box and place it face down on a flat surface.

Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well- ventilated location near the computer. 2. Remove the cable managemen t clip from the pede stal by pul ling outward on th e two sides of the clip (1) then lifting th e clip off the pedestal (2 ).
5. Connect one end of the power cord to the AC po wer connector on the back of the monito r, and the other end to an electrical wa ll outlet. Figure 3-4 Connecting the Cables WARNING ! To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment: Do not disable the power cord groundin g plug.
Adjusting the Monitor NOTE: Your monitor model may look different than the model in the following illustrations. 1. Tilt the monitor's panel forward or backward to set it to a comfortable eye level. Figure 3-6 Tilting the Monitor 2. Swivel the monitor to the le ft or right for the best viewing angle.
3. Adjust the monitor’s height to a comfortable position for you r individual worksta tion. The monitor’s top bezel edge should not exceed a h eight that is parallel to your eye height. A mo nitor that is positioned low an d reclined may be more comfortable for users with corrective lenses.
NOTE: To view informatio n on the screen in po rtrait mode, you ca n install the HP Display Assistant software included on the software and documentation CD.
Connecting USB Devices USB connectors are used to connect devices su ch as a digital camera , USB keyboard, or USB mouse. Two USB conn ectors are located on the side panel of the monitor. NOTE: You must connect the USB hu b cable from the monitor to the computer to enable the USB 2.
Removing the Monitor Pedestal Base You can remove the monitor panel from th e pedestal base to install the panel on a wall, a swing arm, or other mounting fixture. CAUTION: Before beginning to disassemble the monitor, be sure the m onitor is turned off and the power and signal cable s are both disconne cted.
Mounting the Monitor The monitor pane l can be attached to a wall, swing arm, or other mounting fixture . NOTE: This apparatus is intended to b e supporte d b y UL or CSA Listed wall moun t bracket. 1. Remove the monitor p anel from the pedestal ba se.
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on the monitor pro vide the spare part number, produ ct number, and serial number . You may need th ese numbers when contac ting HP a bou t the monitor model. The rating l abels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor disp lay head.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor co ntains files you can install o n the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Ima ge Color Matc hing) fil e ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor do es not incl ude a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you determi ne that you need to update, you ca n instal l the .INF and .ICM files from th e CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from th e CD: 1. Insert the CD in the computer CD-ROM drive.
Using the Auto-Adjustment Function You can optimize the screen pe rformance for the VGA (an alog) input by using the OK/auto button on the monitor and the auto-adjustment pattern software utility on the CD provided. Do not use this procedure if th e monitor is using a DVI or Display Port input.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor setti ngs can be adjusted from th e On-Screen Display (OSD ) menu or from the HP Display Assistant utility. NOTE: If there is a problem with the disp lay settings, try resetting the settings to the factory defaults by opening the OSD and selecting Factory Reset from the OSD menu .
OSD Menu Selections The following table l ists the On-Screen Display (O SD) menu selections an d their functional descriptions. After changing an OSD menu item, an d if the menu screen has the se options, you m ay choose to: ● Cancel —to retu rn to the prev ious menu level.

Optimizing Image Performance Two controls in the on-scree n display can be adj usted to imp rove image performance: Clock a nd Clock Phase. NOTE: The Clock and Clock Pha se controls are adjustabl e only when using an analog input. Th ese controls are not adju stable for digital inp uts.
To correct screen position (Horizonta l Positi on or Vertical Position): 1. Press the Menu button on the mon itor's front panel to open th e OSD Menu, and then select Image Control > Horizontal Positio n and/or Vertical Position .
● No Source Signal —Indicates the monitor is not receiving a video sig nal from the PC on th e monitor video input connector . Check to determine if the PC or input signal so urce is off or in the power saving mode. ● Auto Adjustment in Progress —Indicates the auto-adjustment function is active.
4. Scroll down and h ighlight and sel ect Sleep Timer > Set Curren t Time . NOTE: You must set the current local time before you reset the time for Sleep Ti me or On Time . Note that the time is displayed in a 24–ho ur clock format. For example, 1:15 p.

Entering User Modes The video controller sig nal may occasionally ca ll for a mode that is not preset if: ● You are not using a standard graphics adapter. ● You are not using a preset mode.
