1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors have an ac tive matrix, thin-film tran sistor (TFT) pan el. The monitor models and feature s include: ● LE1711 model, 43.2 cm (17-inch) diago nal viewable area displa y with 1280 x 1024 resolution, plu s full-scree n support fo r lower resolutions ● LE1911 model, 48.

2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If anot her cord is used, use only a power source and connection appr opriate for this moni tor. For information on th e correct power cord set to use with th e monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Se t Requirements on page 32 in Appen dix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance an d extend the life of the monito r: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the mon itor, computer system, and other attached devices, then foll ow the instructions below. Attaching the Monitor Base 1. Set the base on a flat surface such as a table top.

WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock or da mage to the equipment: Do not disable the power cord ground ing plug. The grou nding plug is an imp ortant safety feature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electr ical outlet that is easily a ccessible at a ll times.
When the monitor is powered on, a Monitor Status message is displayed for five second s. The message shows the current active input signal , the current pr eset display resolution, and the recomm ended preset display resolution.
3. Remove the three screws on the back of the monitor that connect the monitor panel to the pedestal base (1) and slide the pede stal base from the monitor p anel (2).
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on th e monitor provide the spare part number, pro duct number, and serial numb er. You may need these nu mbers when contacting HP about the mon itor model. The ra ting labels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor contain s files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Ima ge Color Ma tching) file ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you dete rmine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM file s from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the co mputer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the com puter CD-ROM drive.
To use the au to-adjustment feature: 1. Allow the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before adjusting . 2. Press the -/Auto button on the monitor front panel. ● You can also press the Menu button, then select Image Control from the OSD Main Menu . Refer to Adjusting the Monitor Settings on pag e 15 in this chap ter.
Front Panel Controls Table 4- 1 Monitor Fr ont Panel Co ntrols Control Function 1 Menu Opens, selects or exits the OSD menu. 2 – (minus)/Auto ● If the OSD menu is on, press to navigate backward through the OSD menu and decrease adjustment levels.
Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjusted fro m the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or from the HP Displa y Assistant utility. NOTE: If there is a problem with the display settings, try resettin g the settings to the factory defaults by opening the O SD and selecting F actory Re set from the O SD menu.
OSD Menu Selections The following table lists the On-Scre en Display (OSD ) menu selections and their fu nctional descripti ons. After changing an OSD menu item, and if the menu screen has the se options, you may choose to : ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description Vertical OSD Position Changes the viewing position of the OSD menu to the top or bottom area of the scree n. The factory default range is 50. OSD Transparency Adjust to view the background information through the OSD.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description DDC/CI Support Allows the computer to control some OSD menu features such as brightness, contrast and color temperature. Set to: ● On ● Off The factory default is On. Bezel Power LED Turns off the power LED on the front panel of the monitor.
NOTE: The Clock and Clock Pha se controls are adjust able o nly when using an ana log input. These controls are not adjustab le for digital inputs. The Clock must first be set correctly since the Clock Phase settings are dependent on the main Clock setting.
● No Source Signa l —Indicates the monitor is not receiving a video signal f rom the PC on the mon itor video input connector. Check to determin e if the PC or i nput signa l source is off o r in the power saving mode. ● Auto Adju stment in Progres s —Indicates the au to-adjustme nt function is active.
3. Press the Menu button to select Managemen t . 4. Scroll down an d highlight an d select Sleep Timer > Set Current Time . NOTE: You must set the current local time before you reset the time for Sleep Time or On Time . Note that the time is displaye d in a 24–hour cl ock form at.
