2. Pry the two re ar rubber feet of f the top cover. 3. Remove the 12 Philli ps PM2.5×6.0 screws (1) that secure the top cover to the computer. 4. Separate the top cover from the computer by lifting .
5. Disconnect the keyboard cable (1) and the touchpad cable (2) from the system board. 6. Remove the top cover from the computer. Reverse this procedure to install the top cover.
Battery NOTE: You do not have to remove the battery to remo ve most computer co mponents. Be sure to disconnect the battery cable from the system board before removing any components. 3. Lift the hard drive out of the computer (3) . 4. If it is necessary to disassemble the ha rd drive, perform the following steps: a. Disconnect the hard drive connector cable (1) from the hard drive. b. Flex the sides of the bracket to remove th e pegs from the holes in the hard drive (2) .
Solid-state drive (SSD) NOTE: The solid-state drive spare part kit does not include the cable, bracket, or screws. These components are included in the Solid-state Driv e Hardware Kit, spare part number 777653-001 .
3. Lift the solid-state drive assembly out of the computer (3) . 4. If it is necessary to disassemble the soli d-state drive, perform the fol lowing steps : a. Disconnect the cable (1) from the drive. b. Remove the P hillips P M2.5×4.0 screw (2) that secures the solid-state drive to the bracket.

3. Remove the WLAN module (3) by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle. NOTE: If the WLAN antenna cables are not connected to the terminals on the WL AN module, the pr otective sleeves must be installe d on th e antenna connectors, as shown in the following illustration.

Position the system board ups ide-down. 2. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module.

3. Remove the heat sink (2) . NOTE: Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal ma terial located between the heat sink and the system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach it.
Display assembly Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then sh ut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external device s connected to the computer.
4. Remove two Phillips PM2.5×5. 5 screws from each hinge (1) and the smaller Phillips PM2.5×3.6 screw from the right hinge (2) that secures the dis play assembly to the computer.
c. Use a thin tool to lift the webcam module to disen gage the adhesive that secures it to the display (2) , and then remov e the webcam module (3) . 3. The touch screen display cable conn ects to the board at the bottom of the bezel. To disconnect the touch screen dis play cable from the display bezel, pull the cable upward to disconnect.
e. Remove the display/webcam cable (4) . 5. To remove the display pan el from the bezel: NOTE: The display panel and bezel ar e available using spare part number 774602-001 for HD panels and 774603-001 for FHD pan els. a. Position the display bezel/display panel as sembly upside-down.
a. Position the display enclosure so you can access the internal parts. b. Remove the four Phillips PM2. 5×4.0 screws from the bottom of the hinges (1) and the two Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (2) from the top of the hing es that secure the hinges to the display enc losure.
c. Lift the tape that secures the tran sceivers at the top o f the display (3) , and then remove the antenna cables from th e display enclo sure (4) . Reverse this procedure to reassembl e and install the display assembly.

Recovering using HP Recovery Manager HP Recovery Manager software allows you to recover the computer to its original factory state by using the HP Recovery media that you created or by using the HP Recovery parti tion (select models only).
