F irs t - time setu p Step 1 : Inser t t he ba t ter y T o insert a battery: 1. T urn the computer upside do wn on a flat surface, with the battery bay to ward you. 2. Slide the battery 1 into the battery bay until it is seated. The battery release latches 2 automatically lock the battery into place.

Note the follo wing: ■ After you respond to the setup prompt, you must complete the entire setup process without interruption.

Shut down the computer through the operating system b y clicking Start , clicking the arro w next to the Lock b utton, and then clicking Shut Down .

T roubleshooting Q uic k troub leshootin g T h e comp uter is un ab l e to star t up T o turn on the computer , press the power b utton. When the computer is turned on, the po wer light is turned on. If the computer and the po wer light are not turned on when you press the po wer b utton, adequate po wer may not be a v ailable to the computer .
Tr o u b l e s h o o t i n g T h e comp uter s c reen is bl ank If the computer is on b ut the screen is blank, the computer may be in the Sleep state or in Hibernation or may not be set to display the image on the computer screen. T ry the suggestions below to resolv e the issue: ■ T o exit Sleep or Hibernation, briefly press the po wer button.

T roubleshooting T h e comp ut er is unusua lly w arm It is normal for the computer to feel warm to the touch while it is in use. But if the computer feels unusually warm, it may be ov erheating because a ve nt is blocked. If you suspect that the computer is ov erheating, allo w the computer to cool to room temper ature.

Before you can access the Internet, you must ■ Choose an Internet service provider (ISP). ■ Choose the type of Internet connection you want, such as broadband, wireless, or dial-up, and connect the hardware.
