The ELR locks the seat belt when the vehicle slows down rapidly or during impacts. The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode (child restraint mode) locks the seat belt for child restraint installation. When the ALR mode is activated the seat belt cannot be extended again until the seat belt tongue is detached from the buck le and fully retracted.

SIC4369 Speedometer SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER Speedometer The speedometer indicates vehicle speed in miles per hour (MPH) and kilometers per hour (km/h).
2-8 Instruments and controls SIC4371 T ACHOMETER The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). Do not rev the engine into the red zone * 1 . CAUTION When engine speed approaches the red zone, shift to a higher gear or reduce engine speed.
SIC4374 FUEL GAUGE The gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the tank. The gauge may move slightly during braking, turning, acceleration, or going up or down hills. The gauge needle returns to 0 (Empty) after the ignition switch is pushed to the OFF position.
2-10 Instruments and controls CAUTION . This gauge is not designed to indicate low engine oil level. Use the dipstick to chec k the oil level. (See “ Engine oil ” in the “ 8. Maintenance and do-it-yourself ” section.) . If the gauge needle does not move with the proper amount of engine oil, have the vehicle checked by an INFINITI retailer.

WARNING . Never rely solely on the hill start assist system to prevent the vehicle from moving backward on a hill. Always drive carefully and attentively. Depress the brake pedal when the vehicle is stopped on a steep hill. Be especially careful when stopped on a hill on frozen or muddy roads.
