7 Extension Table (Accessory Storage Box) Extension Table The extension table provides added sewing surface and can be easily removed for free arm sewing. For free arm sewing Lift out the extension table, as illustrated . For attaching the table Position the two pins of the storage box on the base slit and push down gently.
8 SECTION II GETTING READY TO SEW Connecti ng the Machi ne to the Po wer Supply Before connect ing the power, make sure the vol tage and frequen cy of yo ur electr ical pow er confo rm to th e machin e. Switch off the power, fit the nonreve rsible pl ug into the mach ine sock et and plug t he machi ne into the powe r supply .

10 Pressure Dial The pressure dial should be set at “3” for regular sewing. Reduce the pressure to “ 2 ” for appliques. Set the pressure to “1” when sewing chiffon, lace, organdy and other fine fabrics. Velours and knits with a lot of stretch may also require a “ 1 ” setting.
11 To Snap On and Snap Off the Presser Foot To snap off Turn the handwheel toward you to raise the needle to its highest position. Raise the presser foot. Press the lever on the back of the foot holder. The presser foot will drop off. When attaching the presser foot, the pressure dial should always be at position “ 3 ”.
12 15 20 5/8 6/8 To Detach and Attach the Foot Holder To Detach Remove the thumb screw by turning the screw counter-clockwise with the screwdriver. To Attach Align the hole in the foot holder with the threaded hole in the presser bar and fit the foot holder screw into the hole.
13 Changing Needle Raise the needle by turning the handwheel toward you and lower the presser foot. Turn off the power switch. Loosen the needle clamp screw by turning it counter-clockwise. Remove the needle from the clamp. Insert the new needle into the needle clamp with the flat side away from you.

15 Winding the Bobbin Horizontal Spool Pin Ordinary Spool Small Spool Lift up the spool pin. Place the spool of thread on the spool with the thread coming off the spool as shown. Attach the large spool holder pressing it firmly against the thread spool.
16 Threading the Bobbin Winder Pull the clutch knob away from the machine to disengage the clutch. Draw the thread from the spool. Guide the thread around the thread guide. Guide the thread around the bobbin winder thread guide. Insert the thread through the hole the bobbin, threading from the inside to the outside.
17 Place the bobbin in the bobbin holder with the thread running counter-clockwise. Inserting the Bobbin Guide the thread into the notch A on the front side of the bobbin holder. Draw the thread to the left sliding it between the tension spring blades.
18 Threading the Machine Raise the take-up lever to its highest position by turning the handwheel toward you. Raise the presser foot with the presser foot lifter and thread in the order from q to t . q Lead the thread from the spool and pass it through the thread guide.
Raise the needle to the heighest position. Lower the presser foot. Pull the needle threader knob as far as it will go. q Threader knob Pass the thread between the horn and triangle as shown. w Horn e T riangle Draw the thread to the left into the groove on the back.
20 Drawing Up Bobbin Th read Raise the pres ser foo t and ho ld the needl e thread lightly with yo ur left hand. Turn t he handw heel slo wly towa rds you with your rig ht hand until th e needle goes down and continu e turnin g handwh eel unti l the ta ke-up le ver is at its hi ghest po sition.
21 Balancin g Needle Thr ead Tension The ne edle thr ead and the bob bin thread should interloc k in th e cente r of two layers o f fabric in strai ght seam s. Set th e desir ed number of the threa d tensio n dial at se tting ma rk. Loose n the ne edle thread tension by movi ng the d ial to a lower number .
22 Patter n Select or Dial Selec t the pa ttern by turning the patte rn selec tor dial and the red signal shows t he selec ted patt ern. * Raise the needle a bove the fabri cs and p resser f oot when you t urn the pattern selector dial. 23 Straight Stitch Sewi ng Raise the pre sser foo t and posit ion the fabric n ext to a stitc hing guid e line on the ne edle plate . Lower the pre sser foo t and smoot h the th reads to ward the back. Depress the foo t contro l. Gently guide the fabri c along the guide line le tting th e fabric feed natur ally.
24 Changi ng the S ewing D irections Stop the mach ine and bring th e needle down into the fabric by turni ng the handwh eel. Raise the pres ser foo t. Pivot the fabr ic aroun d the ne edle to chang e sewing directi on as de sired. Lower the pre sser foo t.
25 SECTION IV UTILITY STITCHING Zigzag S titch Simpl e zigzag stitch is widel y used for over casting, appliqu e, sewing on but tons etc . Overcast ing This t ype of s titch is used on the seam allowanc e to pre vent fab rics from fraying at raw e dges.
26 Overedge Stitch Place the edg e of the fabric next to th e black prong of foot. The w ires on this foo t preven t light weight fabric from ro lling an d creati ng a rid ge. The black pr ong guide s your s ewing so the nee dle falls off the fabric wrapping the threa ds aroun d the ed ge to st op ravel ing.
27 Triple S trength Stit ch This s trong, d urable s titch i s recom mended wh ere bot h elasti city and strengt h are ne eded to in sure com fort and durabili ty. 28 Sewing B uttons Tape t he butto n over t he plac ement ma rk. A pin can be placed o n top of the foo t to from a shank. Before lowering the foo t, test the ne edle sw ing maki ng sure the need le drops in each hole. Adjust the sti tch widt h if nec essary.
29 Automati c Buttonhole * The size o f button hole is automa tically set by p lacing t he button in the automat ic butto nhole fo ot (R). * The button holder of the f oot takes a button size up to 2.5 cm (1˝) in diame ter. * Make a tes t button hole on a sampl e duplic ating th e fabric , inter facing a nd seams of the actua l garmen t.

35 Mach ine Se tting Zipper A pplication Fabric Prepara tion: Place right s ides of f abric to gether and s ew to th e end of the zip per openin g. Rever se stitc h to kno t the st itches. Sew t he zipper openin g with a basting stitch . q To sew the le ft side of the z ipper, a ttach th e zipper foot to the pi n on the right h and side .
36 Sew t hrough f old and zipper t ape. Sto p just before the zip per foot reache s the sli der on the zi pper tap e. Turn t he handw heel by hand and lower t he needle info t he fabri c. Raise the zip per foot and op en the z ipper. Lower th e foot a nd sitich the rem ainder o f the se am.
37 Close the zipp er and spread t he fabri c flat with t he righ t side f acing up . Move t he zippe r foot t o the le ft pin. Guide the ed ge of th e foot a long the zipper teeth and st itch thr ough ga rment an d zipper tape. Stop a bout 5 c m (2˝) from the top of the zipper .
38 Mach ine Se tting Make a double 0.25 cm (1/8˝) f old appro ximately 8 cm (3˝ ) in len gth. Rolled H em Lower the need le into the fab ric and l ift the hemmer f oot.
39 Lower the hemm er foot , then s ew by li fting up the edg e of the fabric to ke ep it fe eding sm oothly a nd evenl y. Trim a bout 0.7 cm(1/4˝ ) from corne rs as il lustrate d, to re duce bulk.
40 Mach ine Se tting Blind St itch Hemming Turn t he guid e screw and move the sl iding g uide nex t to the folded edge. Sew gui ding the folded edge a long the sliding guide. On li ghtweigh t fabric s the ra w edge c an be tu rned und er and p ressed.
41 Mach ine Se tting Mach ine Se tting Stit ch len gth o f the autom atic p atter ns (No .14 t o 18) are pr eset, so yo u do not need to se lect the st itch length for these patte rns .
42 Mach ine Se tting Adjustin g Stretch St itch Balance Smocking If pat terns ar e uneven when sewin g with a particu lar fabr ic, adjus t them w ith the f eed bala nce dial. * After sewing with an altered dial setting, you must reset t he dial to “ ”.

45 Mach ine Se tting Mach ine Se tting Shell Tu ck Place the fold ed edge along t he slot of foot. The nee dle shou ld fall off t he edge of the f abric on the right forming a tuck. Fold u nder 1.5 cm (1/1 2˝) on ea ch fabri c edge a nd press . Pin th e two ed ges to p aper 0.
46 Mach ine Se ttin g Mach ine Se tting Applique Baste (or fuse with ir on-on f abric joiner ) appliq ue piec es on th e fabri c. Stitch around the appl ique mak ing sure the need le falls along t he outer edge of the app lique. When s ewing c orners, lower th e needl e down i nto the fabric.
47 SECTION VI CARE OF YOUR MACHINE Cleaning the Bobbin Holder This m achine never nee ds oili ng but th e bobbin area an d hook r ace shoul d be cle aned aft er compl etion of ev ery garm ent. Do not stor e the machi ne in an area of high humid ity, nea r a radi ator or in direct sunligh t.
48 Clean the feed dogs, h ook rac e and b obbin ho lder wit h the li nt brush and a s oft dry cloth. Take o ut the b obbin. Lift up the b obbin ho lder and remov e it. Unplug the mac hine and remove the p resser f oot and n eedle. Remov e the sc rew on t he left hand s ide of the needl e plate with the s crewdriv er.
49 Trouble Shooting Condi tion The ma chine d oes n ot run s moothly and is noisy . The n eedle thr ead breaks . The bo bbin thr ead breaks . The ne edle bre ak s. Skipp ed stitch es. Cause 1. Th reads ha ve been caught i n hook m echanis m. 2. Th e feed d og is pa cked wit h lint.
