See the ”What is what?” section to locate where this equipment is positioned on your machine .
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr ack ed.
10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spark arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly .

12 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Sharpening the saw b lade • See the cutting attachment packaging f or correct shar pening instructions. A correctly shar pened blade is essential f or working efficiently and to av oid unnecessar y wear to the blade and clearing saw .
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle (BC 2145) • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
14 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting blades and trimmer heads When fitting the cutting attachment it is e xtremely impor tant that the raised section on the drive disc/support flange engages correctly in the centre hole of the cutting attachment. If the cutting attachment is fitted incorrectly it can result in serious and/or fatal personal injury .
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the blade guar d and saw blade • The blade guard (A) is fitted using 4 scre ws (L) as shown. CA UTION! Alwa ys use the recommended guard for the cutting attachment you are using. See chapter on T echnical data. • Fit the drive disc (B) on the output shaft.
16 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting other guar ds and cutting attachments Fit the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) intended for use with the trimmer head/plastic blades. Hang the tr immer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M).
English – 17 ASSEMBL Y 2 Grass clearing The machine should be suppor ted in a har ness when grass clearing so that the cutting equipment is parallel to the ground. V ector harness Safety release Push down the red release le ver to release the machine from the harness.
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver start the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vapor ate. 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes . W ash any par t of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 19 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
20 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f or med at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 21 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING If the machine is fitted with a decompression valv e (A): Press the valv e to reduce the pressure in the cylinder and make star ting easier . Y ou should alw a ys use the decompression valv e when star ting the machine.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine .
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQUES W orking methods • Bef ore you start clear ing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whichev er end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Brush cutting with a saw b lade • Thin stems and brush are mown down. W or k with a sawing mo vement, s winging sidew ays. • T r y to cut sev eral stems in a single sawing mov ement. • With groups of hardwood stems , first clear around the group .
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQUES Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.
26 – English MAINTENANCE Carb uretor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful exhaust fumes.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment screw T , if it is necessar y to readjust. First turn the idle adjustment screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate. Then turn the screw anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
28 – English MAINTENANCE Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter. See chapter on T echnical data to see whether your machine is fitted with a catalytic conv er ter. The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases aw ay from the operator .
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Cleaning the air filter Remov e the air filter cover and tak e out the filter . Wash it clean in warm, soapy w ater. An oiled f oam plastic filter (av ailable as an accessory) must be used if the machine is operated in e xtremely dusty conditions.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Winter use Running problems can occur when using the machine in the cold and snowy conditions caused b y: • T oo low engine temperature.
