Quic k Setup Connections Please follo w the flow chart below to deter mine which connection setup is right for you. Then, refer to the appropriate diagr ams to connect your tele vision to other devices that y ou may ha ve. After you are finished connecting y our devices , plug the power cord into the nearest pow er outlet and turn on the TV .
Quic k Setup Connections 14 Notes: • If you do not hav e a cable bo x, connect the cable wire from the wall outlet into the bac k of the TV . • If you w ant to connect both an NTSC and A TSC antenna or cable, use a two w ay splitter .
Notes: • If your VCR is a mono sound unit, it will ha ve only one audio out jac k. Connect it to the LEFT A UDIO INPUT on the front of the TV . • Use the S-Video connection if possible f or superior picture quality . • Y our VCR must be turned on to view premium cable channels.

JVC’ s A V CompuLink feature mak es playing video tapes or D VDs totally automatic. Simply inser t a pre-recorded tape into your JVC brand VCR or D VD into your JVC D VD player and the device will automatically turn on and begin pla yback.

21 Quic k Setup Connections By connecting your A V Receiver to your tele vision's V1 Smar t Input, you can watch picture sources from many diff erent devices , without having to change or use the other input connections on your TV . This allows y ou to free up the other input connections so you can connect more devices to y our television.
22 Quic k Setup Connections Connecting an iLINK compatible de vice to the back of y our television i.LINK is a digital series interface that allows de vices equipped with an i.LINK connector to exchange digital video signals , digital audio signals and device control signals bi-directionally ov er a single cable.
When you turn your tele vision on for the first time the inter active plug-in menu will appear . The plug-in menu helps you to get y our TV ready to use by letting y ou set your pref erences for: • The language in which you w ant the onscreen menus to appear .

Quic k Setup Plug-In Menu 25 In auto tuner setup , the TV automatically scans through all a vailable channels , memorizing the active ones and skipping o ver b lank ones or channels with weak signals. This means when you scan (using the C HANNEL +/– buttons) you will receiv e only clear , active channels.
Y ou can program your remote to operate y our cable bo x, satellite receiver , VCR or D VD play er by using the instructions and codes listed below . If the equipment does not respond to any of the codes listed below or to the code search function, use the remote control supplied by the manuf acturer.
The remote control is programmed with VCR codes for pow er on/off, pla y , stop, f ast-forw ard, rewind, pause , record, channel up/down operation. 1) Find the VCR brand from the list of codes shown belo w . 2) Slide the first 2-wa y selector switch to “TV” and the other 2-wa y selector switch to “VCR”.
The remote control is programmed with D VD codes for power on/off , play , stop, f ast-forw ard, rewind, pre vious/next chapter , tra y open/close, and still/pause operation. 1) Find the D VD pla yer brand from the list of codes sho wn below . 2) Slide the first 2-wa y selector switch to “TV” and the other 2-wa y selector switch to “D VD”.
Remote Pr ogramming 29 Cable/Satellite Sear ch Codes Function 1) Slide the first 2-W ay Mode Selector s witch to CA TV . 2) Press and hold down the P OWE R button, then press the R ETURN +/TV button for more than three seconds. 3) Release the R ETURN +/TV button, then release the P OWER button.
T o bring up the onscreen menu , press the M ENU b utton on the remote control. The item that appears in green is the one currently selected. If you use the Menu b utton on the TV’ s front panel instead of the remote, an additional menu screen sho wing INPUT and ASPECT will appear between INITIAL SETUP and PICTURE ADJUST .
Y our television comes with JVC’ s onscreen menu system. The onscreen menus let you mak e adjustments to your tele vision’ s operation simply and quickly . Examples of the onscreen menus are shown on the ne xt page. Detailed explanations on using each menu f ollow later in this guide.

When a viewer attempts to w atch a guarded channel, the follo wing message appears: T o watch a channel that y ou have loc ked, enter the Loc k Code using the 10 ke y pad. If the wrong code is entered, the message “INV ALID LOCK CODE!” will flash on the screen.

Initial Setup ❏ NR – Not Rated This is a film which has no rating. In many cases these films were imported from countr ies which do not use the MP AA r atings system. Other NR films ma y be from amateur producers who didn’t intend to hav e their film widely released.

Channel guard and V -Chip settings are protected by a f our-digit lock code. Y our TV comes preset with a lock code of “0000”. Y ou may change the code to an y four-digit n umber you wish.
Initial Setup This TV has three color projection tubes: one for red, g reen, and blue. When mixed together in the proper por tions, the output of these three color tubes can produce any color . T o produce these colors, how ev er , the beams must be precisely aligned ov er each other so that the colors can be mixed.

Initial Setup 51 The DIGIT AL-IN option can only be display ed in the INITIAL SETUP menu when a 480p picture signal is being input to the DIGIT AL-IN terminal. This option adjusts the position when a 480p picture signal is being display ed on the screen.

Picture Adjust 54 Natural Cinema Reset Reset resets all picture adjustments (tint, color , picture, bright, detail, color temperature, dig. noise clear and VSM) at once to the default settings .
These settings allow y ou to change and adjust the sound on your tele vision. BASS – Y ou can increase or decrease the level of lo w-frequency sound in the TV’ s audio with the bass adjustment. TREBLE – Use treble to adjust the le vel of high-frequency sound in y our TV’ s audio .
A.H.S BBE Sound Adjust 56 A.H.S. - Adds a more spacious surround sound. Music gives basic eff ect and movie for more effect. If you do not want more surround sound, select off . Cloc k/Timer s 57 Set Clock The set clock function is described on page 24 as the interactiv e plug-in menu. Y ou can choose to set the clock automatically , or manually .
The on/off timer lets you progr am your tele vision to tur n itself on or off. Y ou can use it as an alarm to wake up , to help you remember important programs, or as a deco y when you’ re not home.
Y our television has two kinds of screen: SPLIT (2 channels) and INDEX (12 channels). A channel (or input) will now appear onscreen. The channel (or input) you were w atching before pressing S PLIT will appear on the left, the new channel will appear on the right.
Cable Bo x Note: The Multi-Screen function may not oper ate when used with cer tain cable box es. This is because while some models of cable bo xes ma y receive up to 181 channels, and ma y only send the signal from one channel to your tele vision. (Please refer to diagram on page 14).
Button Functions 61 T urns the TV on or off . Press the P OWER button Use the number buttons on the remote control to mo ve directly to a specific channel. Button Functions 63 The V ideo status button gives y ou a choice of four TV picture display settings, including a display of y our own pref erences. Standard - Resets the picture displa y to the factory settings. Dynamic - Gives a vivid picture with better contr ast when viewing in a brightly lit room.

This feature will help y ou adjust the picture you are w atching to give you the best possib le picture quality . REGULAR - The regular ratio is used when you w ant to watch a 4:3 broadcast or recorded program without modifying the original picture to fit the dimensions of your 16:9 screen.
Button Functions 66 When you change the aspect ratios , it is different from their broadcast or recorded prog ram. Button Functions - Digital 68 Sub Channel +/– Digital CH (DCS) When you choose the digital channel, first press the Digital Ch (DCS) b utton, then press the number buttons on the remote control.
Button Functions - Digital 69 iLINK/Timer iLINK Timer has four men us - Timer , Timer List, Controller and Device . By connecting a D-VHS VCR with an iLINK cable , you can set the timer easily . Notes: • If the iLINK is not connected, "Controller" and "Device" will not appear .
Button Functions - Digital 70 Controller Y ou can operate a D-VHS VCR connected with an iLINK cable by using this controller . Notes: • If the iLINK is not connected, the Controller OSD will not appear . • If you w ant to stop the recording on the D-VHS VCR, press the ■ (stop) button.
Button Functions - Digital 71 Y ou can set the two timers: Record and view . The timer star ts the recording or tur ns to the channel you set f or it automatically .

Y ou can set the recording timer or viewing timer by selecting the progr am from the Easy Programming Grid (EPG).
