2 Thank you for purchasing a JVC product. Please read all instructions c a refully before operation, to ensure your complete understanding and to ob tain the best possible performance from the unit. Precautions Installation • Install in a place which is level, dry and neither too hot nor too cold—between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F).
3 Getting Started Step 1 : Unpack After unpacking, check to make sure that you have all the following items. The number in parentheses indicates t he quantity of each piece supplied. • FM antenna (1) • Remote control (1) • Batteries (2) If any items are missing, cons ult your dealer immediately.
4 Step 3 : Hook Up For better FM reception • Make sure the antenna conduc tors do not touch any other terminals, connecting cords and the AC power cord. Also, keep the antenna away from metalli c parts of the System, connecting cords, and the AC power cord.
5 Display Indicators The indications on the display teach you a lot of things while you are operating t he System. Before operating the System, be fa miliar with when and how the indica tors illuminate on the display. 1 TRACK indi cator • Lights when a disc or US B mass storage class device is played.
6 Daily Operations —Playback 1 Turn on the power. The STANDBY lamp on the main unit turns off. 2 Select the source. Playback automaticall y starts if the selecte d source is ready to start. • If you select AUDIO IN, start playback on the external device.
7 Listening to the FM Radio To select FM To tune in to a station While FM is select ed... Station searching starts and the frequency indication starts changing on the display. When a station (frequency) with sufficient signal strength is tuned in, the searching will stop.
8 Playable Media and Files This System can play back fo llowing types of discs/files. • Audio CD • MP3/WMA files on a CD-R, CD-RW, or USB mass storage class device • This System may not play back some files even though their formats ar e listed above.

10 Daily Operations —Sound & Other Adjustments Adjusting the Volume You can adjust the volume level from level 0 (“VOL MIN”) to level 31 (“VOL MAX”). 11 Setting the Clock You can set the clock only when the System is turned off (on standby). 1 Turn off (standby) the System. 2 Activate the clock setting mode. 3 Adjust the hour. 4 Adjust the minute. The built-in clock starts working. To check the current time during play The time is displayed for a few seconds.
12 Advanced Disc/USB Mass Storag e Class Device Operations Programming the Playing Order— Program Play You can arrange the playing orde r of the tracks (up to 32) before you start playback. • You can repeat the progr ammed tracks by pressing REPEAT (see page 14).

The tracks you have selected are played back in the order you have programmed. • You cannot select the trac k with the number buttons during Program Play.
14 Playing at Random—Rando m Play You can play back all the tracks at random. 1 Select the sour ce. 2 Start Random Play. Playback starts in the random order. Random Play ends when all tracks are played. • You cannot select the trac k with the number buttons during Random Play.
15 Additional Information Learning More about This System Daily Operations—Playback (see pages 6 to 9) Listening to the Radio: • If you store a new station into an occupied preset number, the previously stored station in that number will be erased.
