3-2 Maintenance General Information This chapter describes basic maintenance tasks you can perform on the printer . Y ou can replace the following component according to the printer ’s display: • .
Maintenanc e 3-3 FS-C5300DN T oner Kit s For best results, we recommend that you only use genuine Kyocera Parts and Supplies. The toner kits are supplied in 4 diff erent colors: cyan, magenta, yellow and black.
3-4 Maintenance Replacing the T oner Cont ainer This section explains how to replace the toner containers. When replacing the toner container of any color , always replace the waste toner box at the same time. If this box is full, the printer may be damaged or contaminated by the waste toner that may spill over the box.
Maintenanc e 3-5 3 Put the old toner container in the plastic bag (cont ained in the toner kit) and discard it later according to the local code or regulations for waste disposal.
3-6 Maintenance Replacing the W aste T oner Box Replace the waste toner box when the Check waste toner box message is displayed. A new waste toner box is included with the toner kit. The waste toner box needs to be replaced before the printer will operate.
Maintenanc e 3-7 5 Open the cap of the new waste toner box. 6 Insert the new waste toner box as shown in the figure. When the box is set correctly , it will snap into place. 7 Make sure that the waste toner box is correctly inserted and close the left cover .
3-8 Maintenance Cleaning the Printer The paper transfer unit should be cleaned each time the toner container and waste toner box are replaced. T o maintain optimum print quality , it is also recommended that the inside of the printer be cleaned once a month as well as when the toner container is replaced.
