4 ABOUT WWVB (Radio Controlled Time) The NIST (National Institute of Sta ndards and Technology—Time and Frequency Division) W WVB radio station is located in Ft. Collins, Co lorado, and transmits the exact time signal conti nuously throughout the United St ates at 60 kHz.
5 QUICK SET-UP GUIDE Hint: Use good quality Alkaline Batteri es and avoid rechargeable batteries. 1. Have the indoor weather stati on and remote therm o/hygro sensor 3 to 5 apart. 2. Batteries should be out of both units for 10 mi nutes. 3. Place the batteries into the remote thermo/hygro sensor first then into the indoor weather station.
6 DETAILED SET-UP GUIDE BATTERY INSTALLATION A. Remote Thermo/hygro Sensor 1. Pull the cylindrical rain cov er off the remote thermo/hygro sensor. 2. Remove the battery cover (located on the backside of the remote therm o/hygro sensor, above the mounting post and bracket).
7 PROGRAM MODE Programming Note: If 30 seconds is allowed to pass, or either the “IN” o r the “OUT” butto ns are pressed du ring prog ramming mo des the unit will confirm/set the last in formation en tered—the display will sto p flashing and return to normal time-date readi ngs.
8 A. 12 or 24 Hour Time Setting 1. Press and hold the “SET” button for 3 seconds or until “12h” or “24h” flashes in the DATE LCD. 2. Press and release the “CH” button to toggle between 12 and 24-hour time. 3. Press and release the “SET” button to confirm the 12/24-hour time setting and to advan ce to Time Zone Setting.
9 Note: There are more time zones represented by numbers than there are represented by 3 letter abbrevi ations. If you live in North America you need only be concerned with t he ones in the chart above. 5. Press and release the “SET” button to confirm your selection and advance to the Daylight Savi ng Time setti ng.
10 D. Time There are two methods by whi ch the time can be set : 1. Automatically via WWVB reception, or 2. Manually. 1. WWVB (Remote Control Time) This met hod requires you to do nothing, except wai t for the signal to be received and to select a time zone.

13 I. Weather Forecast The weather forecasting feature is estimated to be 75% accurate. The weather forecast is based solely upon th e change of air pressure over time.
14 There are 3 possible weather icon s that will be displayed in the FORECAST LCD: Sunny —indicates that the weather is expected to improve (not that the weather will be sun n y). Sun with Clouds —indicates that the weather is expected to be fair (not that the weather will be sunny with clouds).
15 The current indoor tem perature (viewed on the left) and rel ative humidi ty (viewed on the right) are displ ayed in the INDOOR LCD. The comfort level indicator is l ocated at the center of the INDOOR LCD. The comfort level indicator will display a happy face icon when the temperature is between 68 ° F and 79 ° F (20 ° C and 25.
16 temperature (along wi th the humidity m easured at t hat time) and the time and date of occurrence are displayed. The maximum records will display for 20 seconds. 5. While “MAX” is still d isplayed press and release the “IN” button again to retu rn to the current data display.
17 A. Setting the Alarm (Alarms 1 and 2) Note: There are two alarms that can be set. Each alarm will sound for a complete duration of 2 minut es. 1. Press and hold the “AL1” button for 5 seconds or until the alarm-time display fl ashes in the DATE LCD.
18 1. The snooze function is activat ed by pressing any one of the following buttons: “SET” , “IN” , “OUT” or “SNZ” . 2. To turn the alarm off comp letely, press any of the following butt ons: “CH” , “AL1” , “AL2” or “DATE” .
19 B. Viewing and Operating wi th Multiple Thermo/hygro Sensors 1. To view the temperature of a different remote thermo/hygro sensor press and release the “CH” button. A shift from one “boxed” num ber to the next should be observed in the OUTDOOR LCD.
20 Note: Before permanently mount ing ensure that t he indoor weather st ation is able to receive WWVB signals from th e desired location. Also, extreme and sudden changes in temperature w ill decrease the accuracy of the indoor weather station. Changes in elevation will result with inaccurate weather forecasting for the next 12 to 24 hours.
21 8. Fit the mounting post (o n the back of the remote thermo/hygro sensor) into the receptor of the mounting bracket. B. Mounting With Adhesive Tape 1. With a nonabrasive solution, clean and dry the back of t he mounting bracket and the mounting surface to ensure a secure hold.
22 Problem: No reception of WWVB time signal. Solution: 1) Wait overnight for signal. 2) Be sure indoor weather station is at least 6 feet from any el ectrical devices, such as televisi ons, computers, or other radio-cont rolled clocks. 3) Remove batteri es for five minutes, reinsert and leave the unit alone overnight without pressi ng buttons.
23 • Extreme tem peratures, vibration, and shock should be avoided to prevent damage to the units. • Clean displays and units with a soft, dam p cloth. Do not use solvent s or scouring agents; they m ay mark t he displays and casings. • Do not submerge in wat er.
24 SPECIFICATIONS Temperature measuring range: Indoor: 32 ° F to 139.8 ° F with 0.2 ° F resolution. (0 ° C to 59.9 ° C with 0.1 ° C resolution). “OFL” displayed if out side this range. Outdoor: -21.8 ° F to 157.2 ° F with 0.2 ° F resolution.
