• If an adapter or a device consists of mor e than one FRU , any of the FRUs may be the cause of the error . Before replacing the adapter or device, r emove the FRUs, one by one, t o see if the sympt oms change. Replace only the FRU that changed the sympt oms.

P ower management Note: P ower management modes ar e not supported for APM oper ating system. T o reduce power consumption, the computer has thr ee power management modes: screen blank, sleep, and hibernation. Screen blank mode If the time set on the “T urn off monitor” timer in the operating system e xpires, the L CD backlight turns off.
• If a “hibernation time” has been set on the timer , and if the user does not do any oper ation with the keyboard, the har d disk drive, the parallel connect or , or the diskett e drive within that time. • If the timer conditions ar e satised in suspend mode.

Chapter 7. Removing and replacing a FRU This chapter pr esents dir ections and drawings for use in r emoving and replacing a FRU . Be sur e to observe the following general rules: 1. Do not try to service any comput er unless you have been trained and certied.
