Setup 14 Configuration Program The W ireless Router contains an HTTP server. T his enables y ou to connect to it, and configure it, using y our W eb Browser. Your Brow ser must support Jav a- Script . Internet Explorer 6 and abov e is recomm ended.
Setup 15 If you can't connect If the W ireless Router does not respond, check the following: The W ireless Router is properly installed, LAN connection is OK, and it is powered ON. Y ou can test the connection by using the "Ping" co m- mand: O pen the MS-DOS wi ndow or comm and prompt window.

Setup 19 DHCP What DHCP Does A DHCP (Dy nam ic Host Configuration Protocol) Server allocates a valid IP address to a DHCP Client (PC or device) upon request. T he client request is made when the client device starts up (boots). T he DHCP Server provide s the Gateway and DNS addresses to the client, as well as al locating an IP A ddress.
Setup 20 Mode Screen Use this screen to change the mode between Router m ode and Access Point m ode. Mode Screen Select the desired opti on, and click "Save". Router In this mode, this device can provide shared In ternet Access to all y our LAN users.
Setup 21 Wireless - Options Screen The W ireless Router's settings m ust m atch the other W ireless stations. Note that the W ireless Router will automatically accept both 802.11b and 802.11 g connections, and no configuration is requi red for this feature.
Setup 22 SSID 1/2 This is also called the "Netw ork Nam e". If using an ESS (Extended Servi ce Set, with multiple a ccess points) this ID is called an ESSID (Extended Servi ce Set Identifier). To c omm unicate, all W ireless stations should use the same SS ID/ESSID.
Setup 23 Wireless - Schedule To conserve power usage, y ou can set the time when the w ireless signal wi ll be dea ctivated. For example at night whe n there is no one using the w ireless network. Setup 24 Wireless - M A C Filter This function allows y ou to allow or deny access to W ireless stations using their MAC Addresses. Wireless – MAC Filter S creen MAC A ddress Filter A llow access by … Use this feature to determine which W ireless stations can use the Access Point.
Setup 25 Wireless - M A C Filter - Trusted Wireless Stations This feature can be used to prevent unknown W irele ss stations from using the Access Point.
Setup 26 Edit Use this to change an existing entry in the "Trusted Stations" list: 1. Select the Stati on in the Trusted Station l ist. 2. Click the Edit button. The addres s will be co pied to the "A ddress" field, and the Add button wi ll change to Update .
Setup 27 Wireless - WiFi Pr otected Setup (WPS) W PS feature is follow ing the W i- Fi Alli ance W PS standard and it e ases the set up of security-enabled W i-Fi networks in the home and sm all office environment.
Setup 28 An alternativ e is to press the W PS button a t the front of the router until the W LAN light starts flashing. This indicates that W PS is activated and ready to be paired with client device. The W PS w ill be in p airing mode (flashing) for 1 m inute.
Setup 29 Wi reless - Wireless Distri bution Sy stem (WDS) W DS operation as defined b y the IEEE802.1 1 standard has been made available. Using W DS it is possible to wirelessly connect Access Points, and in doing so extend a wired i nfrastructure to locations where cabl ing is not possible or inefficient to implem ent.
Setup 30 WDS Environment Below i s an example of how a W DS operates. Wireless Distribution System 1. AP1, AP2 a nd AP3 are configured to use the same Channel and S ecurity se ttings. 2. Enter AP2 and A P3’s MAC addresses into AP1’ s W DS MAC Address list.

Setup 33 WPA -PSK Wirele ss Security WPA - PSK Data - WPA - PSK Screen Security System WPA - PSK Like W EP, data is encry pted before transm ission. W PA is more secure than W EP, and shoul d be used if possible. W PA- PSK is the version of W PA, which does NOT require a Radius Server on y our LAN.
Setup 34 WPA 2-PSK Wire less Security WPA 2- PSK Data - WPA 2- PSK Screen A ut hentication WPA 2- PSK This is a further development of W PA-PSK, and offers even greater security. PSK Enter the PSK (netw ork k ey ). Data is encrypte d using a key derived from the network k ey.

PC Configuration 50 Wireless Station Configuration This section applies to all W ireless stations wishing to use the W ireless Router's Access Point, regardless of the operating sy s tem which is used on the client.
PC Configuration 51 Wireless Networks (Window s XP) If the "Broadcast SSID" setting on the Wireless Router has been disabled, its SSID will NOT be listed. See the following section "If th e SSID is not listed" for details of dealing with t his situation.

Advanced Features 69 If the DMZ feature is enabled, y ou m ust enter IP address of the PC to be used as the "DMZ PC". The "DM Z PC" is effectively outside the Firewall, ma k- ing it more vulnerable to attacks. For this reason, you should only enable the DMZ featu re when required.
Advanced Features 70 Data - URL Filter Screen Current Filter Strings Current Filter Strings The list contains the current list of items to block. To add to the list, use the "A dd" option be low. To delete an entry , select it and click Delete button.
Advanced Features 71 Dy namic DNS (Domain Name Serv er) This free service is very useful whe n combined with the Virtual Server feature.
