3 1-2. Safety notices Warnin g Before the co mputer is powered-on afte r part (FRU) replacement, make sure all scr ews, springs, and other sma ll parts ar e in place and are not left loose ins ide the compute r. Veri fy this by shaking the computer and listening for rattling s ounds.

8 Handli n g devices that ar e sen si tive to electrostatic discharge Any computer par t containing trans istors o r integ rated cir cuits (ICs) should be conside red sensiti ve to electros tatic discharge (ESD). ESD damage can occur when there is a dif ference in charge between objects.

19 BIOS Flash You can update BIOS using a floppy disk dr ive . Because this system is not equ ipped with any floppy disk dr ive, you have to use an e xternal U SB drive for a BIOS update. In orde r to boot up with an USB drive, please set Removable D evice as the fi rst boot up drive in the boot menu of BIOS setup.
20 1. Quit all runn ing programs. 2. Start WI NPHLASH.EXE. 3. Select the procedure you want : a. Backup BIOS and Fl ash BIOS with new settings b. Backup BI OS Only 4. Specify the loca tions for backup and new BIOS files in BIOS Setting Locations. a. Enter the name of the backup fi le for exis ti ng BIO S or cl ick Br owse to loca te the fi le.
21 8. After the comple tion, ‘Syste m BIOS was successfully updated’ appears on the sc reen, then the comput er rest arts. 9. After the res tart, make sure the system BIOS is updated. 10. If your compu ter does not resta rt automatica lly, turn o ff your computer and then tu rn it back on by pressing power button.
22 BIOS Setup BIOS (Basic Input and Output Sy stem) S etup saves the sy st em co nfigurat io n in CMOS R AM , and check the configu rations du ring sta rtup. Use the BIOS Setup Utility to change and save the system enviro nment, hardware configu rations, power sav ing mode, etc.

28 Security Menu · Setting a pass word If you want to protec t the system se tup fro m an unauthorized user, fo llow the instruct ions below to set a password. You can set a password in th e BIOS S e tup Utility program. · Set Supe rvisor Passw ord A password protects your computer from unauthor ized users.
29 Note A supervis or password enables you to change settings in the BIOS Setup Utility and to perform Power on Boot . Users o ther than the ad ministrator should only have use r passwords. c. If the following message appears , enter a new super visor password and then Enter .
30 · Set User Passw ord A user passw ord provid es a lo w er level of se curity co mpared to a superv isor password. A superviso r password mus t be set in o rder for you to set a user password. a. Start th e BIOS Setup Utility and use arrow keys to select Secur ity menu.

Start th e BIOS Setup Utility and use arrow keys to select Secur ity menu. b. If the following screen appears, select Set HDD Password by using arrow keys, and pres s Enter .
35 c. If the following message appears , enter a new super visor password and then press Enter . A password must be consisted of numbe rs 0~9, and have the maximu m length of 8. d. If the following message appears, press Enter . e. Press F1 0 to save the new settings .
36 · Changing or remov ing a pa ssword You must know the password in order to change or remove it. a. Start th e BIOS Setup Utility , enter your passwor d, and then press Enter . b. To ch ange the password, follow the instructions on Se t Superviso r Passw or d or Set User Passwo rd .
37 Boot Menu · Boot menu enables you to set the boot order fo r the C D-RO M driv e, Remo vable devic es, Hard driv e, and Network boot. Boot menu displays the boot orde r of your system with h igher prio rity given to a device higher on the list.
38 · Exit System Set up and save your changes to CMOS. · Exit Saving Chan ges Select Exit Saving Chan ge s to save new setup information in CMOS RAM. CMOS RAM stores the information using the backup battery; t here fore, the information will not be lost when t he co mputer is turned off .
39 · Discard Cha nges Select Discard Chan ges to discard new setu p information. S etup Confirmati on asks you to confirm your selec tion. If you want to d iscard any new setup info rmation, se lect Yes . · Save Changes Select Save Chan ges to sa ve any new setup info rmation without ex iting the BIOS Setup Uti lity .
40 Note If r eplacing a pa rt (FR U) does not solve the problem, pu t the orig inal part back in the computer. Do not rep lace a non-defectiv e FRU . The symptom-to-pa rt index in this sec tion lists sympto ms and error s and their possible causes. The most likely cause is listed first.
41 · If the vo ltage is not correct, rep lace the AC adapter. · If the voltage is acceptab le, do the following : 1. Replace the system board. 2. If the problem persis ts, check the AC adapter whether it is cor rect product or not. · Check ing operational charging 1.
42 · The Character istics of the battery pack 1. Self-discharge The battery gradually loses its power over time without e ver being used. 2. Periodic full disch arg e / charge Frequent recharge o f the battery pack can reduce the c apac ity of the batte ry pack.

49 Indeterminate problems · You are here because the d iagnostic tes ts did not identi fy which adapter or device failed, wrong devic es are installed, a short ci rcuit is suspected, or the system is inopera tive. Follow these procedures to isolate t he failing FRU (do not isolate FRUs that have no defects).

83 2. Disasse mble the LCD f ront. The f ront hook located on the middle of LCD upper and lower end. Be careful of the dire ction when removing because it is connected fr om ins ide out.
