T urning Y our Phone On and Off T urning Y our Phone On T o turn your phone on: Pr ess and hold f or appr oximatel y two seconds. Once y our phone is on, it may display “Sear ching for Servic e,” which indicat es that your phone is sear ching for a signal.
Using Y our Phone’ s Battery and Char ger Sprint- or manuf actur er-appr ov ed batteries and ac ces sories can be f ound at Sprint Stor es or thr ough your phone’ s manuf actur er, or contact y our cabl e pr ovider f or mor e inf ormation. Battery Capacity Y our phone is equipped with a Lithium Pol ymer battery .
Installing the Battery T o install the battery: 1. Place the edge of the batt ery that has the battery terminals into the opening on the back of the phone (1), and then pr ess it into plac e (2). 2. Align the tabs on the battery c over with the sl ots on the back of the phone (3), and then pr ess the c ov er down until it clicks (4).
Char ging the Battery Y our phone’ s battery is r echar geabl e and should be char ged as soon as possibl e so you c an begin using your phone. Keeping track of y our battery’ s char ge is important. If your battery l evel bec omes too l ow, y our phone automatic all y turns off and you will l ose all the information you wer e just working on.
Navigating Thr ough Phone Menus The navigation k ey on y our phone allows y ou to scr oll thr ough menus quickl y and easil y . The scr oll bar at the right of the menu k eeps track of y our position in the menu at all times. T o navigate thr ough a menu, simply pr ess the navigation k ey up or down.

Making and Answering Calls Making Calls Placing a call fr om your phone is as easy as making a c all fr om any landline phone. Just enter the number and pr ess , and you’r e on your way t o cl ear calls. T o make a call using your k eypad: 1. Mak e sur e your phone is on.
Dialing Options When you ent er numbers in st andby mode, you will see a variety of dialing options appear on the phone’ s display scr een. Call dials the displayed phone number . Contacts Match all ows you to find Cont acts entries that match the display ed number .

Answering a Roam Call With Call Guar d Enabl ed Call Guar d is an option that helps you manage your r oaming char ges when making or r eceiving c alls whil e outside the Sprint National Network. Pl ease see “Contr olling Y our Roaming Experience” on page 62 f or mor e inf ormation about r oaming.
Calling Emer gency Numbers Y ou can plac e calls to 911 (dial ), ev en if your phone is l ock ed or your ac count is r estrict ed. During the call, pr es s the desir ed menu list to display among menu lists. T o sel ect menu, highlight it and pr ess .
Enhanc ed 911 (E911) Information This phone f eatur es an embedded Global Positioning Sys tem (GPS) chip neces sary for utilizing E911 emer gency loc ation services wher e availabl e. When you plac e an emer gency 911 call, the GPS f eatur e of your phone begins t o seek information t o cal culate your appr oximat e loc ation.

Saving a Phone Number Y our phone can st or e up to five phone numbers in each of 500 Contacts entries. Each entry’ s name can c ontain up t o 32 charact ers. Y our phone automaticall y sorts the Contacts entries alphabeticall y . (F or mor e information, see Section 2F: Using Contacts on page 74.

Entering T ext Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input l ets you enter te xt in your phone by pr es sing k eys jus t once per l etter .
