2 Contents Introduction The Model AE-500 T elephone Entry & Access Control System is designed for use as a primary access control device f or gated communities, parking garages, offi ce buildings, apartments, dor mitories, hotels/motels, commercial buildings and recreational f acilities with up to 250 residents or users.

4 P r ogramming with a Computer The AE-500’ s built-in progr amming interface can be accessed on-site (using a separate telephone line) or off-site using a computer with a modem and any Internet browser (if using Netscape, be sure J ava is installed).
5 Set ting up Multiple Units The system suppor ts up to se ven AE-500s connected to the same telephone line. Some telephone systems ma y only suppor t up to four units on the same telephone line. In multiple-unit installations each AE-500 m ust be assigned a unique unit number bef ore programming.
6 P r ogramming Over the T elephone The system can be programmed using a T ouchT one™ telephone. The telephone’ s ke ypad will act similar to the AE-500’ s local keypad. Connecting with a T elephone 1. Place a call to the telephone number of the line that AE-500 is connected to .
7 P r ogramming Refer ence PROGRAMMING CONTROL USAGE KEYSTROKES ENTER PROGRAMMING FROM LOCAL KEYP AD . . . . . . . . Press 0 and 2 then MASTER P ASSWORD ENTER PROGRAMMING FROM TELEPHONE . . . .Call, wait for tone then enter MASTER PASSWORD ESCAPE/CANCEL .
8 Resident Data P r ogramming Up to 250 resident names and telephone numbers can be set. Each resident entry is assigned a director y number . The director y numbers are the numbers visitors enter to hav e the system call the residents. ✦ NO TE: When entering resident names, programming the AE-500 from a computer is the pref erred method.
9 Entr y Code Programming Changing the Entr y Code Length The factory setting for the entry code length is 4 digits. It can be set to 2-6 digits. 1. If not already in Programming Mode, connect b y telephone or use the local ke ypad. Enter the master password and access prog ramming.
10 Wir eless T ransmit ter Pr ogramming Up to 500 wireless transmitters can be used with the system. T ransmitters can be ordered in pre-programmed b locks of sequential ID codes. Up to 16 blocks of transmitters can be used. T ransmitter bloc ks can be ordered with a F acility Code of 1-15 for b lock identifi cation if desired.

12 Sys tem Options For most installations the f actory settings for the system will be appropriate. Y our installer may ha ve already customized some of the system settings .
13 Sys tem Options (Continued) Speaker T one on Relay Channel “A” Activation The factory setting will not cause the speaker to sound a tone when access is granted with Rela y Channel “A”. The tone can be turned on if desired. 1. If not already in Programming Mode, connect b y telephone or use the local ke ypad.
14 Sys tem Utilities Sev eral utility commands are av ailable f or the system. Utilities can be used to clear memory , display system information, and control the relays . Display Unit Number In multi-unit installations the unit number of each AE-500 can be displa yed.
