Step One: Remov e PCI Expansion Sy stem Cover WARNING High voltages are present ins ide the chassis when the unit’s powe r cord is plugged int o an electrical outlet.
NOTE Make sure that all PCI c ards are fully s eated in their c onnectors . When correctly seat ed in its connector, you will notice a f i rm res istance when you pull up gent ly on the card. To k eep the cards in place , secure t hem in the chassis with their ret aining sc rews (supplied wit h the PCI Expansion System ).
2. Insert the CardBu s Host Interface C ard with the MA GMA logo side up, (gold str ip up) into the PC C ard slot. Gently push t he card until it is seated firmly . NOTE If your c omputer has two CardB us (or PC Cards ) slots, MAGMA recommends t hat you i nstall t he MAGMA CardBus c ard into Sock et 2.
Po we ri n g D o wn : It is recom mended that you first shut down the host comput er correctly and then pow er down the c hassis to avo id ‘computer lo ck-up’. Step Seven: Install Software Driv ers WARNING You WILL be prompt ed to Shut Down and Reboot your syst em severa l times during s oftware installation.
NOTE It is HIGHLY rec ommended t hat Microsoft W indows users m eticulousl y follow the MAGMA Sof tware Driver Inst allation instruct ions detailed in Appendix B of this m anual. If you do not follow the driver inst allation instruct ions, you have greatly i ncreased your c hances of failure when configuri ng your syst em.
When replacing the ex pansion chassis cover, be sure th at the side edge guides engage th e inner rails of the ex pansion cha ssis. Use the 4 screws prov ided to secur e the cov er.

While install ing the M AGMA CardBus Driver, do not answ er YES to any Restart W in dows until y ou are told to ‘ Power off the sy stem ’. There is a Microsoft U pdater tha t you must in stall first, without reboo ting. First, you w ill see a Windows M illennium Edition Q Z71933 Update Window appe ar asking if you want to cont inue.
You shoul d now Shut down the co mputer . This m eans , Turn o ff your computer co mpletely. After you hav e Shut down c ompletely, connect t he expansion chassi s to your compute r by following the Step-by-Step Instruct ions incl uded in Chapter Tw o: Quick Start Guide .
