Leaving the seatback unlocked is dangerous as it can allo w passengers to be ejected or thrown around and baggage to strike occupants in a sudden stop or collision, resulting in severe injury.
Black plate (21,1) q Split-Folding Rear Seatback T o fold the seatbacks CAUTION When operating the rear seatb ack knob, make sure you support the seatback with your hand. If the seatback is not supported with your hand, it will flip forward suddenly and could cause injury to the finger that pushes the rear seatback knob down.
Black plate (22,1) W ARNING When returning the seatback to the upright position, make sure there is no red indication: A rear seatback not full y returned and locked in the up right position is dangerous. Sudden stops or maneuvering could cause a seatback to flip forward suddenly resulting in injury .
Black plate (23,1) Removal T o remove the head restraint, press the stop-catch release, then pull up on the head restraint. q Armrest í The rear armrest in the center of the rear seatback can be used (no occupant in the center seat) or placed upright.
Black plate (24,1) Seat Belt Precautions Seat belts help to d ecrease the possibil ity of severe injury during accidents and sudden stops. Mazda recommends that the driver and all passengers always wear seat belt s. All of the seat belt retr actors are desig ned to keep the lap/shoulder belts out of the way when not in use.
Black plate (25,1) W ARNING Have your seat belts changed immedi ately if the pretensioner or load limiter has been expended: One or both front air bags may deploy , and the corresponding pretensioner (s) may also deploy at the same time.
Black plate (26,1) q Pregnant W omen and Persons with Serious Medical Conditions Pregnant women should always wear seat belts. Ask your doctor for specific recommendations. The lap belt should be worn SNUGL Y AND AS LOW AS POSSIBL E OVER THE HIPS. The shoulder belt should be worn across your shoulder properly , but never across the stomach area.

Black plate (28,1) q Unfastening the Seat Belt Depress the button on the buckle. If the belt does not fully retract, pull it out and check for kinks or twists. Then make sure it remains untwisted as it retracts. Button NOTE If a belt does not fully retract, inspect it for kinks and twists.
Black plate (29,1) Front Seat Belt Pr etensioner and Load Limiting Systems For optimum protection, the driver and front passenger seat belts are equipped with pretensioner and load limiting systems. For both these syst ems to work properly you must wear the seat belt properly .

Black plate (35,1) Seat Belt Extender If your seat belt is not long enough, even when fully extended, a seat belt extender may be available to you at no charge from your Authorized Mazda Dealer . This extender will be only for you and for the particular vehicle and seat.

Fuel can burn skin and eyes and cause illness if ingested. Fuel spray is released when there is pressure in the fuel tank and the fuel cap is remo ved too quickly.
