Black plate (17,1) q Seat Recline WARNING Do not drive with either front seat reclined: Sitting in a reclined position while the vehicle is moving is dangerous because you do not get the full protection from sea t belts. Du ring sudden braking or a collisi on, you can slide under the lap belt and suffer serious inte rnal injuries.
Black plate (18,1) CAUTION When returning a rear-reclined seatback to its upright position, make sure you hold on to the seatback with you r other hand whi le operating the lever. If the seatback is not supported, it will flip forward suddenly and could cause injury.

If the seatback is not supported with you r hand, it will flip forward sudd enly and could cause injury to the finger that pushes the rear seatback knob down.
Black plate (26,1) q Armrest The rear armrest in the center of the rear seatback can be used (no occupant in the center seat) or placed upright. Head Restraints Head restraints are intended to help protect you and the passen gers from neck injury .
Black plate (27,1) Rear seat Removal/Installation T o remove the head restraint, pull it up while pressing the stop-catch . T o install the head restraint, press the uprights into the holes while pressing the stop-catch.
Black plate (28,1) NOTE l The active head restraints operate in a r ear-end collision. The head r estraints r eturn to their original position after the collision. l The method for adjusting the active head r estraints is the same as a normal head r estraint.
Black plate (29,1) WARNING Ø Be careful when using the seat warmer. The heat from the seat warmer may be too ho t for some people, as indicated below, and could cause a low-t emperature burn.
Black plate (30,1) Seat Belt Precautions Seat belts help to d ecrease the possibility of severe injury during acciden ts and sudden stops. Mazda recommends that the driver and all passengers always wear seat belt s. All of the seat belt retr actors are designed to keep the lap/shoulder belts out of the way when not in use.
Black plate (31,1) WARNING Always wear your seat belt and make sure all occupants are properly restrai ned: Not wearing a seat belt is extremely danger ous. During a collis ion, occupants not wearing seat belts could hit someone or things inside th e vehicle or even be thrown out of the vehicle.
Black plate (32,1) CAUTION Belt retraction may become diffic ult if the belts and rings are soiled, so try to keep them clean. For more details about cleaning the seat belts, refer to “ Cleaning the Lap/Shoulder Belt Webbing ” (page 8-60).
Black plate (33,1) q Automatic Locking Mode Always use the automatic locking mode to keep the child-restraint system from shif ting to an unsafe position in the event of an acciden t. T o enable seat belt automatic locking mode, pull it all the way out and connect it as instructed on the child-restraint system.

Black plate (36,1) Front Seat Belt Pretensioner and Load Limiting Systems For optimum protection, the driver and front passenger seat belts are equipped with pretensioner and load limiting systems. For both these syst ems to work properly you must wear the seat belt properly .
Black plate (37,1) Do not modify the components or wiring, or use electronic testing devices on the pretensioner system: Modifying the componen ts or wiring of the pretensioner system, including the use of electronic testing devices is dangerous.
Black plate (38,1) q Air Bag/Front Seat Belt Pretensioner System W arning Beep If a malfunction is detected in the air bag/ front seat belt prete nsioner systems and the warning light, a warning beep sound will be heard for about 5 seconds every minute.
Black plate (39,1) WARNING Do not use a seat belt extender unless it is necessar y: Using a seat belt extender when not necessary is danger ous. The sea t belt will be too long and not fit properly. In an accident, the seat belt will not provide adequate protec tion and you could be seriously injur ed.

If you slide the child safety lock to the lock position before closing that door , the door cannot be opened from the inside.
