16 ABOUT DISCS PLA Y ABLE DISCS: The following discs can be played back on this DVD recorder: DISC TYPES: DVD Data on most DVDs is divided into sections called “titles” and then into subsections called “chapters”, each of which is given a title or chapter number .
Notes on Copyright: It is forbidden by law to copy , broadcast, show , broadcast on cable, play in public and rent copyrighted material without permission. DVD video discs are copy protected, and any recordings made from these discs will be distorted.
18 SETUP MENU The setup menu lets you customize the DVD recorder by allowing you to select various preferences. Below , find the menu, and then find the corresponding page that describes the features of the selected menu option. 1. While in the Stop mode, press the SETUP button ❶ to enter the Setup Menu.
19 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) PROGRESSIVE: Select Progressive when connected to the Component jacks for a more stable, flicker free picture. INTERLACE: Select Interlace when connecting via other methods. Y ou can also use the I/P button on the remote to select the Progressive or Interlace modes.
20 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) 16:9: Select when the unit is connected to a wide-screen TV . P AN SCAN: Select when the unit is connected to a conventional TV . Video material formatted in the Pan Scan style is played back in that style (the left and right edges are cut off).
21 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) Select ON to turn the Auto Chapter Marker on. Select OFF to turn the Auto Chapter Marker off. When the Auto Chapter Marker option is set to ON, after every five minutes, a chapter marker (beginning of a chapter) is inserted during the recording.

Caring for Discs • Treat the disc carefully . Handle the disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny , unprinted side of the disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the disc label. • Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth.
