G WARNING Child restraint systems or their securing systems which have been damaged or subjected to al oa di na na ccident can no longer protect as intended. The child cannot then be restrained in the event of an accident, heavy braking or sudden changes of direction.
If an infant or child is traveling in the vehicle: R Secure the child with ac hild or infant seat restraint system appropriate to the age and weight of the child. R Make sure that the infant or child is properl ys ecured at all times whil et he vehicle is in motion.

The seat belt should: R fit snugly across your body R be routed across the middle of your shoulder R be routed in your pelvic area across the hip joints X Before starting off, adjust the rear-view mirror and the exterior mirrors ( Y page 99) in such aw ay that you have ag ood view of road and traffic conditions.

Mirrors Rear-view mirror X Anti-glare mode: flick anti-glare lever : forwards or back. Exterior mirrors Adjusting the exteri or mirrors G WARNING The exterior mirror on the front-passenger side reduces the size of the image. Visible objects are actually closer than they appear.
i Make sure that the exterior mirrors are always folded out fully while driving. They could otherwise vibrate. i If you are driving faster than 30 mph (47 km/h), you can no longer fold in the exterior mirrors. Setting the exterior mirrors If the battery has been disconnected or completely discharged, the exterior mirrors must be reset.
X Make sure that the vehicle is stationary. X Turn the SmartKey to position 2 in the ignition lock ( Y page 137). X Press button ; for the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side. X Engage reverse gear. The exterior mirror on the front-passenger side moves to the preset parking position.
While the memory function is making adjustments, make sure that no one has any body parts in the sweep of the seat. If somebody becomes trapped, immediately release the memory function position button. The adjustmen tp rocess is stopped. Automatic headlamp mode G WARNING When th el igh ts witc hi ss et to à ,t he low- beam headlamp sm ay not be switche do n automatically if there is fog, snow or other causes of poor visibility due to th ew eather conditions such as spray. Ther ei sar isk of an accident.
Rear fog lamp The rea rf og lamp improves visibility of your vehicle for the traffic behind in the event of thick fog. Please take not eo ft he country- specific regulations for the use of rear fog lamps. X To switch on the rear fog lamps: turn the SmartKey in the ignition lock to position 2 or start the engine.
The blue K indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up when the high- beam headlamps are switched on. X To switch off the high-beam headlamps: move the combination switch back to its normal position. The blue K indicator lamp in the instrument cluster goes out.
Extende dr an ge fog lamps The extended range fog lamps reduc et he glare experienced by th ed river and improve th ei lluminatio no ft he edge of the road. Active: if you are driving at speeds below 40 mph (70 km/h) and you switch on the rear fog lamp.
Switching Adaptive Highbeam Assist on/off X To activate: activate the Adaptive Highbeam Assist function using the on- board computer ( Y page 203). X Turn the light switch to à . X Press the combination switch beyond the pressure point in the direction of arrow : ( Y page 106).

Tail lamp Turn signal lamp/tail lamp and brake lamp X Switch off the lights. X Open the cargo compartment. X Open the side trim panel ( Y page 114). X Press retaining lugs : simultaneously in the direction of the arrow and pull the bulb holde ro ut.
X Pull out connector C of the surround lighting by releasing the latches. X Place trim B to one side. X On the side where the bulb is to be changed, unclip the remaining part of trim D from the assembly using as udden, sharp movements, until bulb holder E is accessible.
