W ashing en vironmentally and economically Caring for the environment means sav- ing water , energy and detergent wh en washing but witho ut compromising on re sults. The key to a good w ash result is finding the best combination of amount of detergent, tempera ture, leng th of pro- gramme and the machine’ s technology .
Ho w to wash correctly The headings n umbered ( 1 , 2 , 3 ,... ) show the operating sequence and ca n be used as a brief guide. Before washing 1 Prepare the wash load Empty all pockets. Foreign objects (e.g. nails, coins, paper clips etc) can cause dama ge to textiles an d components in the machine.
Ho w to wash correctly Curtains: Remove lead weights and strips or place in a laundry bag. Any loose wiring in bras etc.,sho uld be removed or swen in. Woollens and knitte d garments: T ur n inside o ut, if the manufact urer rec- ommends it. 3 Close the drum door Make sur e that ther e is no obstruction between the drum door and seal.

Adding detergent All moder n detergents produced for automatic washing ma chines are suit- able, includin g liquid, compact (con- centrated) and special application detergents. Use dispensing aids, e.g. balls, if these are supplied with the detergent.

Clean the facia pa nel with a damp cloth and d r y with a soft c loth. The drum ca n be cleane d using a suitable proprietary stainless steel cleaner .
Cleaning and care Cleaning the fluff filter and pump Check t he fluff filter initially aft er 3 - 4 washes to ascertain how often i t is likely to require cleaning. The opener for the fluff filter panel is on the side of the detergent dispe nser drawer towar ds the r ear .

What to do if , . . . ? Opening the drum door in the event of a po wer failure Switch off the washing machine. Remove the flap opener f r om behind the deter gent drawer f acia panel. Open the flap (in the mac hine plinth). Place a dish or bowl under the s pout.
What to do if , . . . ? Pull the emergen cy door latc h down- wards using a spoon han dle (see il- lustration). The machine door will then open. Please note that : on machines with left hand hingeing the emergency door latch is loc ated behind a second ac- cess f lap in the ce ntre of the plint h.

Installation Installation surface A concrete flo or is the most sui table in- stallation surface for a washing ma- chine, being far less prone to vibration during the spin cycle than wooden floorb oards or a surface with "soft" properties. Please not e the follo wing points : The machine must be level and se- curely positioned.
Installation T urn the right-han d transit bar 90°clockwise. Withdraw the two bars together with the support plate. Plug the two holes wi th the plastic caps supplied. The machin e should n ot be mov ed with- out the t ransit fitting in place. The transit fitting should be st ored in a safe place for futur e use.
Installation Levelling the mac hine The machine must be perfect ly level to ensure safe and proper operation. Incorrect inst allation may increase water an d electricity consumptio n.
Installation Please note the f ollowing: – The machine should never be oper- ated wit hout the f ront panel fir mly in place. – The electrical and water co nnection points should be close t o the ma- chine and easily accessible.
Installation Fitting the fr ont panel The front of t his appliance c an be fitted with a door panel to mat ch surrounding units. If the unit is fitted in a MIELE KIT- CHEN, a d oor panel with the app ropri- ate dimensi ons and t he necessa ry holes pre-drille d can be provided.
Installation Fit the front panel with the remaining screws provided and the hinge scr ews. Example 2: Drill the numbered holes and the screw points for the inner door pa nel to the s pecified depth. On chipboard fr onts: inject silicon sealant (s upplied) into the (= Ø 10 mm) free holes.
Installation Fitting a plinth facia The appliance plinth below the door can be part ially conce aled using a plinth facia. The height and return o f the appliance plinth canno t be altered. A talle r plinth facia can only be in- stalled if the ov erall niche height is higher .
Installation Residual test water Flush out any residual test water still in the machine as follows: Do not load the mach ine. Add a little detergen t to compar t- ment j . Switch on th e machine. Select the “COTTONS 60°C” pro- gramme. Select the "Shor t” option.
Plumbing Connection to water supply Fitting The machine s hould be conne cted to a mains wa ter supply in accordance wit h standard regulations. In Ger many the washing machine is not required to have a n on-return valve as it has been designed to c omply with DVGW r egula- tions.
Plumbing The Miele "W aterpr oof system" con- nected bet ween the stopcock and th e machin e offers th e safest pr otection against water leaks. For the "W aterproof system " to function correctly , it may only be fitted in the po- sitions s hown (see illustratio ns above).
Plumbing Importa nt! The plas tic casing o f the wat er connec - tion cont ains an elec tric compo nent. Do not dip into any liquid! 44.
Plumbing Connection to the drai nage system The machin e drains via a drain pump with a delive r y head of 1 metre. The hose must not be ki nked as this r e- stricts drainage. Thes wivel elbow at the end o f the hose can be turned in either direction, or ca n be detached if requ ired with a sharp twist and p ull.
Electr ical connection This washing machine is supplied re ady for connec tion to an a. c. single phase 230 V , 50 Hz supply . The ma- chine is supplied with a 2 m long mains cable with mo ulded plug. The voltage, rated load and fus e rating ar e given on the data plate .
