S-SERIES 7 Welcome Thank you for purchasing this Nav man. This manual has been pre pared to guide y ou through the operation of your Navman from first set-up through to co ntinuous use. Please read this manual carefully before using y our Navman for the first time.
S-SERIES 8 Getting to know your Navman We recommend that y ou familiarize yourse l f with the Navman's ba sic operations. Components Component Description Turns the camera on and display s the Viewfinder scr een. Press again to take a NavPix™ .

S-SERIES 10 How do I get started? Note: Before you begin, c heck if your v ehicle is fitted w ith a heat-reflectiv e or heated w indscreen. If so, y ou may need to purchas e an external antenna for your N avman to receiv e GPS signals. The first time y ou use your Nav man, it may take u p to 15 minutes t o establish a GP S connection.

S-SERIES 12 3. Turn your Navman on Press and hold to turn your Nav man on. Your Navman will turn on and display the Language screen. 4. Select your preferred language From the Select La nguage screen, tap your preferred language.
S-SERIES 13 How do I adjust the volume? The volume on your Nav man can be adjusted eithe r by the volume con trol on the Volume preference screen or by using the volume control buttons on th e remote control (sold separa tely). To mute the vo lume fr om the map screens, tap and then tap , or press on the remote control (sold separately).
S-SERIES 14 How do I turn my Navman off? To turn your Navman o ff, press and hold . Power-saving standby mode To enter standby mode, press . To end standby mode, press again. When your Navm an enters standby mode, the screen will tur n off.
S-SERIES 15 What are the main screens I will use? Main Menu screen The Main Menu screen is your starting point for searching for a destination. The Main Me nu screens also allow you to customize pre ferences, receive upd ated traffic information, ma ke and receiv e phone calls and take NavPix .
S-SERIES 16 How do I navigate w ith GPS? The Global Position ing System (GPS) i s available at any ti me , free of charge, and is accura te to within 5m (15ft). GPS navigation is made possible by a netw ork of satellites tha t orbit the Earth at around 20,200 km (12,552mi).
S-SERIES 17 How do I go from A to B? Your Navman is equipped w ith maps that prov ide street-lev el detail for door-to-door navigation , including Points of Interest such as a ccommodation, parking area s, pe trol stations, railway stations and airpor ts.
S-SERIES 18 How do I search for an address? Enter a destination using the Destinati on Search , Keyboa rd and Preview screens, which use d together form an address-entry w izard. This section provides a ca se study to help guide you through setting your destin ation.
S-SERIES 19 2. Select the countr y Note: If you only have the maps of one co untry installed an d selected, that c ountry is selected for your destinatio n by default and c annot be changed. Go to s tep 3. a) From the Destination Search screen, tap . The Select a map screen will display.
S-SERIES 20 Using the Keyboard screen The Keyboard screen will displ ay when you are re quired to enter tex t, such as when sear ching for a street name. Search results will be listed in matchin g order, with the clo sest matches appearing at the top of the list.
S-SERIES 21 b) Use the Keyboard scr een to enter Navman Street a s the street name o f your destination, the n tap the search result. Note: There may be multi ple matches for a particular street name. Long streets that run throug h several neighbou ring areas, and common street names w ill produce search results ordered by their city or area name.
S-SERIES 22 How do I create a trip with multiple stops? You can use the Multi-stop Trip Plann er screen to set multiple stops or waypoints for your trip.

S-SERIES 26 How do I skip a waypoint during a multi-stop trip? To skip a way point during a multi-stop trip , complete the following: 1. Tap th e map. The Map Menu will display . 2. Tap Route , then Skip Waypoint . The next waypoint will be skipped and the route recalculated to the following w aypoint.
S-SERIES 27 How do I search for a Point of Interes t (POI)? A POI is a named site, feature, landmark or pu blic venue wh ich can be displa yed as an icon on the map.

S-SERIES 31 How do I navigate to a Fav ourite? 1. Tap the Favourite d estination you w ant to travel to. The Preview screen will display. 2. Tap . Your Navman will calcula te the route fr om your current location .
S-SERIES 32 How do I edit the name of a Fav ourite? 1. From the Favourite Destination s screen, select a favourite to edit. The Favo urite P review screen will display. 2. Tap Edit . The Edit Name screen will display . 3. To edit the name of the favourite, ta p .
S-SERIES 33 How do I navigate to a recent location? To make navigating to an address ea sier, your Navman will automati cally save all y our start locations and destinations in a list of re cent locations. 1. Tap a recent locati on. The Preview screen will display.
S-SERIES 34 How do I view my route? When a route has been calculated, the 3D Map screen will display. You w ill be directed to your destination by spoken and visual instructi ons. The Map button cy cles through the 3D Map, 2D Map, Traffic Overvie w, Route Overview and Turn-by-Turn ™ screens.

The 2D Map screen follows your direction of travel unless the Map Display preference is set to North (see “ Map Display” page 76).

S-SERIES 40 Route Overview screen The Route Overview screen gives you a bi rd’s eye view of y our trip. Note: A route must first hav e been calculate d for this screen to be availabl e. Tap and drag the screen, to mov e across the map. Tap the map to v iew the Map M enu (see " How do I use the Map Men u?" on page 44).
S-SERIES 41 Item Description Distance and Time Information Tap to expand a nd see the foll owing options: Time km/h or mph ( Speed) TTG (Time to Go) DTG (Distance to Go) ETA (E stimated Time of Arrival). Tap to cycle throug h the options.
S-SERIES 42 Turn-by-Turn screen The Turn-by-Turn screen display s the next four tur ns of your route, the turn direction, the street name and the distance to the turn. You can view all the turns in the list , using the up and d own arrows. A route must first have been calculated for this screen to be av ailable.

S-SERIES 44 How do I use the Map Menu? The Map Menu allows y ou to access na vi gational functions from the 3D M ap and 2D Map screens. Displaying the Map Men u 1. Tap to display the 3D Map or 2D Map scr een. 2. Tap and drag to mo ve around the map to your selected location.
S-SERIES 45 How do I avoid an area? Your Navman can cal culate a route that av oids a specified area on the map. Av oid Areas are displayed as shaded areas. CAUTI ON If no alternative route around an Avoid Area exists, the route calculation will fail.
S-SERIES 46 How do I preview a route? Route demonstration allow s you to: Preview a route. Plan and view a route without a GPS fix, such as w hen you are inside a building.
S-SERIES 47 How do I view my route statistics? The Navman provides informa tion on your: distance travelled average speed maximum speed time taken for trip stationary time.
S-SERIES 48 How do I v iew statistics of my trips to date? The Tripmet er - Global screen is used to view stati stical information fo r al l of your trips to date , or since the trip meter was last re set. The Tripmet er - Global screen will di splay.
S-SERIES 49 How do I use the camera? The camera feature is not available on all models. Your Navman has a buil t-in camera with NavPix ™ technology. Picture s taken w hile you have a GPS fix are called NavPix and can b e used to navigate to the photographed location.
S-SERIES 50 Viewfinder screen The Viewfinder screen allow s you to take a NavPix and access the camera preferences. To view the Viewfinder scr een, press on top of your Navman. Note: Pressing will not take a NavPix unless the Viewfinder screen is display ed.

S-SERIES 52 How do I manage my NavPix ? Album mana gement The albums contain all your Na vPix and display them as thumbnails. You ca n store your NavPix in customizable albums on the Navman internal memory or on your memory card. Note: When you take a NavPix , it is always saved to the NavPix album o n the Navman internal memor y.
S-SERIES 53 How do I copy Nav Pix to my memory card? NavPix can be co pied from the albums on your Navman internal memory to your memory card and vice versa. Note: The first time a NavPix is copied to your memory card, a folder will be created on the memory card called NavPix.

S-SERIES 82 GPS GPS Statu s Signals are transmitted by Global Positioning Sy stem (GPS) satel lites orbiting the Earth. The GPS S tatus screen provides a visual representation of th e information being r eceived. Latitude and longitude are displayed, along w ith ground speed and the h eading in degrees.
