5 Units Connected to Cameras When connected to a camera ( 0 6), WR-1 units are pow ered by the camera; batteries are not requir ed. Standby Mode If no operations are per formed for the length of time selected for STBY p ( 0 16), transmitters will enter standby and their displays will turn off to save power .

7 Fixing Units in Place A The WR-1 can be mounted on the camera acces- sor y shoe as shown at right. Once the unit is in place, it can be angled as shown at right. T o remove the WR-1, angle it as shown in Figure 1 or 2, and then pr ess the release ( q ) and slide the unit off the accessor y shoe ( w ).
8 Using the WR -1: The Basics Using the WR -1: The Basics The instructions that follow describe how t o control a single camera using two WR-1 units, one functioning as a transmitter and the other as a receiv er .
9 Step 3: Pair the Units Step 3: Pair the Units F ollow the steps below t o pair the units. Units can be paired only with other devices on the same channel. 1 Set the units to pairing mode. Pr ess the MENU button to display the menus, then highlight P AIRING in the LINK MODE menu and press z .
10 Step 4: Group the Units Step 4: Group the Units Each receiv er can be placed in any of f our groups ( A, B, C, and D). A transmitter can then be used to contr ol the diff erent groups sepa- rately by selecting the appropriate gr oup befor e operating the transmitter controls .
11 T ra c Level A The tra c on each channel can be gauged by pressing 2 f or about a sec- ond. The tra c level f or each channel is shown by an icon; choosing a low- tra c channel improv es per formance.
12 Controlling Multiple Cameras Controlling Multiple Cameras This section describes the ways in which multiple receiv ers can be used to control mor e than one camera at a time.
13 Synchronized R elease Synchronized R elease T o synchronize the shutters of one or more remot e cameras with the shutter on a master camera, attach the rec eivers to the r emote cam- eras and the transmitter to the master camera. The master camera must be equipped with a ten-pin remote t erminal.
14 Groups Groups Remote cameras can be divided into up to f our groups ( A, B, C, and D). The cameras in each group can be c ontrolled separately by us- ing the transmitter group butt ons to select the desired group bef ore pressing the shutter-r elease button.
15 The WR-R10/WR- T10 The WR-R10/WR- T10 WR-1 units can be used with WR-R10 and WR- T10 wireless remote controllers (available separately). WR- T10 WR-R10 WR-R10 WR-R10 WR-A10 WR-1 units must be in pa.

20 Release Hold T ime Choose how the remote cameras r espond when the transmitter shutter-release button is held all the wa y down. TIME : The transmitt er shutter-release button can be used f or long time -exposures; shooting ends automatically after a selected time.
21 Relay Receivers can be confi gur ed to relay transmitt er commands to an- other receiv er , increasing transmitter range and allowing signals to be transmitted around obstacles . T ransmitter Relay Receiv er 1 Confi gure the relay . On the unit that will act as the relay , slide the T x/Rx/OFF switch to Rx .
22 Release Delay Choose how long a receiv er waits to release the shutt er after the transmitter shutter-release butt on is pressed all the way down. Dif- ferent dela ys can be used for di erent receiv ers, allowing shutt er release to be stagger ed over a series of cameras using a single trans- mitter .
23 ID Mode ID Mode While in pairing mode pairing is used to establish links between units before shooting beg ins ( 0 9), in ID mode units automatically link to others with the same name. Note that ID mode is a vailable with WR-1 units only; pairing must be used to link with WR-R10/WR- T10 wireless remot e controllers.
24 Viewing and Changing Camera Settings (D7100 O nly) Viewing and Changing Camera Settings (D7100 O nly) When receiv ers are attached to D7100 cameras, camera settings can be viewed and changed in the transmitter display .
25 Receiver Status A The status of receivers that ar e connected to D7100 cameras is shown as follows: g (still image mode) : The transmitter shutt er- release button can be used to take photo- graphs. • h (movie mode) : The transmitter shutter-release button can be used to begin and end movie recor ding.

27 Precautions for Use Controllers must be secur ely attached to the camera to prev ent camera malfunction. Remove units that ar e not in use; carr ying a camera in a bag or by the strap with a WR-1 attached risks damage to the camera or the WR-1 in the event that the camera is exposed to strong ph ysical shocks or vibration.
