Switch the device on and off To switch on the device: 1 Press and hold the power key. 2 If the device asks for a PIN code or lock code, en ter it, and select OK . The preset lock code is 12345 . If y ou forget the code and your device is locked, your device will require service and addition al charges may ap ply.
USB charging You can use USB ch arging when a wall outlet is not available. With USB cha rging, you can also tran sfer data while charg ing the device. 1 Connect a compatible USB device to your device using a compatible USB cable. The efficiency of USB chargi ng varies significantly.

Make calls Proximity senso r Your device has a proximity sensor. To prevent accidental selections, the touch screen is disabled automatically during calls when you place the de vice next to your ear. Do not cover the proximity sensor, for example, with protective film or tape.
To enter a wait character (w ) or a pause cha racter (p), press * repeatedly. To send the tone, select OK . Y ou can add DTMF tones to the phone number or DTMF field in contact details. To end an active call and replace it by answering the waiting call, select Options > Replace .

Contacts (pho nebook) To open Contacts, s elect Menu > Contact s . You can save and update con tac t information, such as phone numbers, home addresses, or e-mail addresses of your contacts. You can add a personal ringing ton e or a thumbnail image to a contact.

To view, change or remove the imag e from a contact, select the contact, Options > Image , and the desired option. Copy contacts When you open t he contacts list for the first time, the devi ce asks if you want to copy names and numbers from th e SIM card to your device.
New SIM contact — Enter the contact name and phone number to which calls are allowed. Add from Contact s — Copy a contact from the lis t of contacts to the fixed dialling list. To send text messages to the SIM cont acts while the fixed dialling service is active, you need to add th e text message centre number to the fixed dialling list.
Ovi Contacts About Ovi C ontacts With Ovi Contacts, you can stay con nected to the people who matter most. Sear ch for contacts, an d discover friends in the Ovi community. Keep in touch with your friends - chat, share your location and pr esence, and easily follow what your friends are up to and where they are.
A packet data connection may gene rate additional data transmission charges. For pricing details, contact your network service provider. Select Go onlin e > Options and from the following: Select — Select the item. Go online — Connect to the service if you are offline.
Edit shared location s — Select the landmarks you want to broadcast to your friends (when the My location field is selected). Stop sharing — Stop broadcasting your location to your friends (when the My location field is selected). The available options may vary.
Edit tex t — Copy or paste text. End chat — End the active chat. Exit — End all a ctive chats, and clos e the application. The available options may vary. To receive location information from your friend, you must have the Maps application. To send and receive location information, both the Maps an d P ositioning applications are needed.
To add a landmark manually, select Enter manually . To select the locations you wa nt to share with you r friends, select Share my location > My shared landmarks , and select the landmarks from the list. Select Option s to edit, mark, and unmark items on the list.
Refresh inte rval — Select how often you broadca st your current location. Add a location to the landmarks list Select Share my location > My shared landmarks > Options > New landmark . Add your current location as a landmark Select Current posit ion .
Messag ing Messaging main view Select Menu > Messaging (network service). To create a new message, select New message . Tip: To avoid rewriting messages that you send often, use texts in the T emplates folder in My folders. You can also create and save your own templates.

View mess ages on a SIM c ard Select Menu > Messaging and Options > SIM messages . Before you ca n view SIM messages, y o u must copy t hem to a folder in your device. 1 Select Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark or Mark all to mark messages. 2 Select Options > Copy .
Message sent as — To learn if your message centre is able to convert text messages into these other formats, contac t your service provider. Preferred connection — Select the connection to use. Reply via same centre — Select whether you want the reply message to be sen t using the same tex t message centre number (network service).
To remove a mailbox and its messages from your device, select Mailboxes , tap the mailbox to be removed if it is not already highlighted, and select Op tions > Delete . To create a new mailbox, select Mailboxes > Options > New mailbox . The nam e you give to t he new mailbox replaces Mailbox in the Messaging main view.
Send message — Define how e-mail is sent from your device. Select Immediately for the device to connect to the mailbox when you select Send message . If you select During next conn. , e-mail is sent when th e connection to the remote mailbox is available.
Select whether you want to re ceive service messages. To set the device to automatically activate the browser and start a network connection to retrieve content wh en you receive a service messa ge, select Download messages > Automatically . Cell broadcas t settings Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Operator message .

Cell info display — Set the device to indicate when it is used in a cellular network based on microcellular network (MCN) technology and to activate cell info reception. Wireless LAN Your device can detect and connect to wireless local area networks (WLAN).
If you already have th e web browser running usi ng the currently active WLAN connection, to return to the web browser, select Continue web browsing . To end the active connection , select the connection and Disconnect WLAN . WLAN internet access points Select Menu > Setti ngs and Connectivity > Wireless LAN > Options .
Access points Create a new access point Select Menu > Setti ngs and Connectivity > Destinations . You may recei ve access point setti ngs in a messa ge from a service provider. Some or all access points may be preset for your devi ce by your s ervice pr ovider, an d you may not be able to change, create, edit, or remove them.
To add access points to an access point group, select the group and Optio ns > New access point . To copy an existing access point from anot her group, select the group, tap the relevant access point if it is not already hig hlighted, and select Options > Organ ise > Copy t o other dest.
To edit a wireless LAN (WLAN) access point, open one of the access point groups, and select an access point marked with . Follow the instructions from your WLAN service provider. Select from the following: WLAN network name — Select Enter manually or Search for networks .
You may receive synchronisation settings in a special message from your service provider. A synchronisation profile contai ns the nece ssary settings for synchronisation. When you open the application , the default or previously used synchronisation profile is displayed.
My phone's visib ility — To allow your device to be found by other devices with Bluetoot h wireless technology, select Shown to all . To set a time period after which the visibility is set from shown to hidden, select Set visibility period . To hide your device from other devices, select Hidden .
Before pairing, create your own p a s s c o d e ( 1 t o 1 6 d i g i t s ) , a n d agree with the owner of the other device to use the same code. Devices that do not have a user interface h ave a factory- set passcode. The passcode is used only once. 1T o p a i r w i t h a d e v i c e , s e l e c t Op tions > New pai red device .
Before the remote SIM mode can be activated, t he two devices must be paired and th e pairing initiated from the other device. When pairing, us e a 16-digi t passcode, and set the other device as authorised.

Administrative settings Select Menu > Setti ngs and Connectivity > Admin. settings . To set the online time for the da ta call connection, se lect Data call .
Internet With the Web browser, you can view hypertext markup language (HTML) we b pages on the internet as originally designed. You can also browse web pages tha t are designed specifically for mobile devices, and use extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML ), or the wireless markup lan guage (WML).
Show zoom — Zoom in or out on the web page. To use the expanded toolbar, select Expand toolbar and from the following: Go to feeds — View your current feed subscriptions. Send URL — Send the web address of the current page to another device. Switch win.
To go to the next match, from the toolbar, select Find next . To go to the pr evious match, from the toolbar, select Find previous . Bookmarks Select Menu > Web . Select Options > Go t o > Bookmarks . You can select web addresses from a list or from a co llection of bookmarks in the Recently visited pages folder.
Security certificates may be re quired for some services, such as banking services. You are notified if the identity of the server is not authenti c or if you do not have the correct security certificate in your device. For more information, contact your service provider.

Positioning (GPS) You can use ap plications such as GPS data to calculate your location or measure distances. These applications require a GPS connection. About GPS The coordinates in the GPS are expressed using the international WGS-84 coordinate s ystem.
Hold your device correctly When using the GPS receiver, ensure you do not cover the antenna with your han d. Establishing a GPS connection may take from a couple of seconds to severa l minutes. Esta blishing a GPS connection in a vehicle may take longer.
Position reque sts You may receive a req uest from a network service to receive your position information. Service providers may offer information about local topics, such as weather or traffic conditions, based on the location of your device. When you receive a position request, the service that is making the request is displayed.
Route guidance Select Menu > Applications > Locatio n and GPS data > Navigation . Start the route guidan ce outdoors . If started indoors, the GPS receiver may not receive the necessary information from the satellites.
Bluetooth GPS — Use a compatible external GPS receiver with Bluetooth connectivi ty. Network based — Use information from the cellular network (network service).
Maps About Maps Select Menu > Maps . With Maps, you can see you r current location on the map, browse maps of different cities and countries, search for places, plan routes from on e location to another, save locations, and send them to compatible dev ices.
Move on a map When the GPS connection is active, shows your current location on the map. To view your current or last known location, select Options > My positi on .
map, and select Explore . Se lect a category, and enter the search terms in the sea rch field. Plan routes You can creat e routes an d view them on the map. Select Menu > Maps . Create a route 1 Tap your starting poin t on the map. To add the destination and more locations to the route, select Add new route point .
Sort the saved loca tions Select Places > Optio ns > Sort . View the lo cation on th e map Tap the location, and s elect Show on map . Add the location to a route Tap the location, and s elect Add to route . Create a collection Select Options > New co llectio n .
Purchase a service for your current location Select Options > Shop & licences > Shop . When you purchase a service, you have two options: • Purchase a licence with a fixed end date. • Subscribe to a licence that is automatically renewed every 30 days until you cancel it.
See an overview of the route Select Options > Route ov erview . Stop na viga ting Select Stop . Drive to your destinat ion You can purchase a licence for na vigating on foot or by car. The licence is region-specific and can b e used only in the selected area.
Some jurisdictions prohibit or regulate the use of speed camera location data. Nokia is not responsible for the accuracy, or the consequenc es of use of speed camer a location data. You also get the n otification service for speed cameras, if available for your country or region.

Automatic z oom — Use automatic zooming. Traffic info update — Update the information a bout traffic events. Reroute due to traffic — Plan a new route to avoid tr affic events. Time indicator — Display the travel time or estimated time of arrival.
Colours — Optimise the colour scheme for day or night usage. Memory to be used — Select where the map files are saved in your device. Maximum memory use — Select how much memory can be used to store maps. When the memory limit is reached, the oldest maps are removed.
4 If more than one device is connected to the computer, select your device from the list. 5 When Nokia Maps Up dater has found upda tes, download them to your device. 6 Accept the download in your device when prompted on the device display. If pr ompted, close the running applications.
Camera Your device supp orts an image capture resolution of 2592x1944 pixels (5 mega pixels). The ima ge resolution in this guide may appear different.
If you select a new scene, th e capture settings are replaced by the selected scene. You ca n change the capture settings after selecting a scene if needed. Saving the captured image may ta ke longer if you change the zoom, lighting, or colour settings.

To set the image as a default call image to be used for every call situation, select Option s > Use image > Set as call image . To assign the image to a contact, Options > Use imag e > Assign to con tact . To return to the viewfinder to capture a new image, press the capture key.
You can also use sequence mode with the self-timer. To deactivate sequence mode, select > Single shot . You in the image — self-t imer Use the self-timer to delay the capture so that you can include yourself in the image. To set the self-time r delay, select > , and the delay needed before the image is captured.
After recording a video clip After you record a video clip, select from the following options (available only if you have selected Options > Settings > Show last capt ured video > Yes ): Play — Play the video clip you just recorded. — Upload the imag e to a compatible on line album.
Photos About Photos Select Menu > Phot os and from the fo llowing: Captured — View all the images and video clips you have captured. Months — View images and video clips categorise d by the month they were captur ed. Ap plicable only for content captured or recorded with your device.
To edit an image or a video clip, select the file and Options > Edit . To view the details of an image, s elect Opti ons > Detail s . To print your images on a compatible printer, select Options > Print . View and edit fi le details Select Menu > Phot os .
Delete the image or video clip. Rename the image or video clip . View images as a s lideshow. Create a new album. Albums Select Menu > Phot os and Albums . With albums, you can conveniently manage your images and video clips. To create a new album , select .
Before starting the slide show, to adjust the slide show settings, select Option s > Slide show > Settings and from the following: Image order — Display images from older to newer or vi ce versa. Song — Select a music file from the list. Transition speed — Adjust the temp o of the slide show.
Edit image s Image editor To edit an image, in Photos, scroll to the image, and select Options > Edit . To add effects to your images, select Op tions > Add effect . You can crop and rotate the image; adjust the bri ghtness, colour, contrast, and re solution; and add effects, text, clip art, or a frame to the image.
To take a snapshot of a video cl ip, in the cut video view, select Options > Take snapsho t . In the thumbnail preview view, press the scroll key, a nd select Take snapshot . Image print You can print images from yo ur devi ce using a p rinter compatible with PictBridge.
Music Warning: Continuous exposure to high volume m ay damage your hearing. Listen to music at a modera te level, and do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use. Play a song or a podcast Select Menu > Music > Music libra ry .
To modify the tone of the music playback, select Op tions > Equaliser . To modify the balance and ster eo image or to enhance the bass, select Options > Settings . To return to the home screen and leave the player playing in the background, press the end key.
Transfer music from a computer You can use the following me thods to tr ansfer music: • To view your device on a computer as a mass memory device where you can transfer any data files, ma ke the connection with a compatible USB data cable or Bluetooth connectivity.

To start a download, select the episode t itle. To download or to continue to download selected or marked episodes, select Options > Download . You can download multiple episodes at the same time. To play a portion of a podcast during download or after partial downloading, se lect the podcast and Optio ns > Play preview .
