1. Introduction Product Overview The external print servers enhanc e capability by letting you place your printers, plotters, or equality printers at convenient locations dire ctly on the Ethernet net work, and by increasing network printer performance and management.

3 .T he P SAdmin U tility for W indows-based The PSAdmin is a proprietary Windows based m anagement program that can assist you in configuring and managing your pr int server in NetWare environments. The program can be run from any Windows PC. Installing the PSAdmin To install PSAdmin, please follow the directions listed below .

Using PSAdmin After PSAdmin is successfully installed, run the program by double-clicking the PSAdmin icon from “ Network Print Server ” program. The screen will then appear as follow picture.

Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server: This option enables or disables the DHCP feature of the print server. When this option is enabled, the print server will obtain an IP addre ss automatically from the DHCP server on your LAN. The default value is “ Disable ”.
Upgrade Upgrade allows the user to upgr ade the print server device. In order to upgrade the unit please perform the steps as follows: 1. Click Upgrade button just like a picture < > , as shown as follow picture 2. S elect General Upgrade . Make sure that the upgrade file is located in the same directory as PSAdmin.
Note : Configure the print speed in the Advanced label, must match the printer’s speed which connect to the print server. Undependabl e configuration will cause printer to abnormal printing. Multiple Print Queues Configuration To configure the print server to service mult iple print queues, please follow the instructions listed below: 1.
Procedure: 1. Click Start , point to Settings , and select Control Panel . 2. Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 3. Click Change or Remove Programs tab. 4. Select Network Print Monitor for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP and click Change/Remove button.

Removing HP Web JetAdmin Utility To remove HP Web JetAdmin software from your web server, use the uninstall program provided with the software package.
5. C onfiguration from E mbedded W eb S erver Overview The Print Server contains an embedded web server that can be accessed through a supported web browser on a LAN, for exampl e, IE 4.
System Status 1.Click Status , it then appears the sub-menu. 2.Click System , it then as shown in the following picture. Device Name: This option allows you to view device nam e of the print server. To correct the print server’s device name. System Contact: This option allows you to view contact name of the print server.
Printer Status 1.Click Status , it then appears the sub-menu. 2.Click Printer , it then as shown in the following picture. Manufacturer: This option allows you to view manufac turer of the printer. When the printer connected with the print server, it will be show in the manufacture box.
Mode: This option shows the wireless oper ation mode of your print server. AP’s MAC Address: This option shows the MAC address your wireless AP. SSID: The ESSID of your wireless network. Channel Number: Current channel number. Data Transmit Rate: Current transmit rate.
Use DHCP/BOOTP: This option allows you to view DHCP/ BOOTP status. If there is a DHCP/BOOTP server on your network, this option allows the print server to obtain IP-related settings automatically from your DHCP server. IP Address: This option allows you to view IP addr ess from the print server.
General Settings: Print Server Name: This option allows you to view print server’s name would be configured by PSAdmin utility. Polling Time: This option allows you to view polli ng time from the print server. This function is search for NetWare Server by per time .
SNMP Communities: This option allows you to view SNMP communities from the print server. There are two communities that control message from the network management of the print server. SNMP Traps: This option allows you to view SNMP traps from the print server.
Data Format: This option allows you to view data format from the print server. If you are using a PostScript printer you can select ASCII , TBCP or BCP format from web configuration. Setup Menu Meanwhile, you have finished the IP address conf iguration with print se rver.
System Contact: This option allows you to input contac t name of the print server. To check the print server’s contact name who in charge of this device. System Location: This option allows you to input Loc ation name of the print server. To confirm the print server’s location nam e where the print server is located in the office’s LAN.
Basic Settings: Mode: Infrastructure, Ad-hoc or 802.11b Ad-Hoc. Select SSID or Manually Enter SSID Below: You can use Site Survey to help you assign a SSID or input in manually. Channel: Specify a Channel number t hat meet your enviromemt. Data Transmit Rates: Choose the transmit rate of your wireless print server.

If there is a DHCP/BOOTP server on your network. This option allows the print server to obtain IP-related settings automatically from your DHCP server.
Print Server Name: This option allows you to input pr int server name which configured by PSAdmin utility or PCOMSOLE program. Polling Time: The time interval in which the print server unit polls the file server for servicing of print queues. Logon Password: This option allows you to input encry pted password from the print server.
Installing Print Server on NetWare 4.x/5.x Due to its architecture and func tionality, the print server mu st work under NetWare 4.x/5.x NDS Bindery Emulation.
Note: Please refer to NetWare’s Print Server /Services manuals for detailed PCONSOLE commands. SNMP Setup TCP/IP networks use a standar d management protocol called Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). SNMP is widely used in t he industry as a solution for remote network management and monitoring of network ing devices.

6. Network Print Monitor Preparation The print server supports TCP/IP , IPX/SPX and NetBEUI protocols under Windows 95/98/Me. Please make sure that the fo llowing steps have been completed before proceeding with installation under Windows PC. Select A Desired Protocol TCP/IP The TCP/IP Protocol must be installed.
TCP/IP Protocol Installation 1. Click Start , point to Settings and select Control Panel . 2. Double click the Network icon. 3. If the TCP/IP Protocol is not already installed, click Add . 4. Select Protocol and click Add . 5. Select Microsoft from the Manufacturers list.
NetBEUI Protocol Installation 1. Click Start , point to Settings , and select Control Panel . 2. Double click the Network icon. 3. If the NetBEUI is not already installed, click Add . 4. Select Protocol and click Add . 5. Select Microsoft from the Manufacturers list.
9. Type in the Printer Name and click Next . 10. A message reading, “After your printer is in stalled, Windows can prin t a test page so you can confirm that the printer is set up properly.” Select No and click Finish . 11. Double-click the newly created Printer Name icon.
By default, the computer will first search for the print server(s) on the network by using the IPX/SPX protocol. If the IPX/SPX protocol is inst alled, the print server will be displayed along with its Node ID, as shown in Node column. UNIX Installation After the IP address is assigned, the Print Server is ready to be configured. For some popular UNIX systems, SCO OpenServer and UnixWare , Sun Solaris , IBM AIX , and Linux , we include the detailed installation procedures below.
