4 Warnings and Cautions Warnings Unplug the power cord in the ev ent of any malfunction (screen goes blank, no sound, odd sounds, smok e or unusual odours coming from the unit). Unplug the power cord if f oreign matter or water f alls into the unit, or if the unit is dropped or the cabinet is damaged.

11 Connections ■ Connecting S-Video Equipment to the AV Input S-Video equipment uses a 4Pin Mini Din (Male) plug f or the video and RCA plugs for the audio . Notes: • When an S-Video cable is connected to an S-Video input terminal, the RCV video terminal for that A V position will be disconnected.
12 Connections ■ Connecting a DVD player or Set-top Box to the AV input The audio and video inputs on the tele vision are RCA type connectors. Connect the Y , P B and P R outputs from the D VD to the A V1 D VD Inputs on the television, as shown belo w .
13 General Operation 1 How to s witch the power ON or OFF/ST ANDBY mode The TV set must fi rst be s witched on at the wall outlet and at the P ower Switch (ref er to page 7). Press this button to turn the TV set ON, from ST ANDBY mode. Press it again to turn the TV set OFF , ST ANDBY mode.
14 General Operation 6 TV/A V Mode Selection Press the TV/A V button to select TV , A V1, A V2, A V3, A V4, A V5 input signal modes sequentially . Remote control : Press the TV/A V button to display A V1-A V5 at the bottom of the screen. Each coloured button corresponds with each input.
15 Geomagnetic Correction Slight tilting of the picture ma y be noticeable or coloured patches ma y sometimes appear at the cor ners of the screen (colour purity). The Geomagnetic Correction feature can be used to eliminate them, if necessary . Geomagnetic corrections can be made from the Remote Control or the TV set.
16 Using the On Screen Displays Many f eatures av ailable on this TV can be accessed via the On Screen Displa y menu system. Use the Remote Control as shown belo w to access and adjust features as desired. The PICTURE , SOUND and SET UP buttons are used to open the main menus and also to return to the previous men u.

MENU Y ou can change the level of each Function (Colour , NTSC-Tint, Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness) for each Picture Menu.
18 Picture Menu By pressing the Normal “N” button on the Remote Control while the Picture menu is displa yed, the selected menu will be changed to the Normal Mode. Normalization will not occur if the menu is not display ed when the “N” button is pressed.

22 Setup Menu ■ Owner ID Owner ID allows y ou to enter a security code (Owner ID) and personal details into its memor y , so that in the unfortunate ev ent of theft, it will help the police to trace the owner . If you wish to chec k the personal details already entered into the TV , press the (Side panel) and hold f or 5 seconds.

28 Menu Operation ■ CH Search This option is used to show freez e frames of the programmes being broadcast on all the stored channels. The images are displa yed clockwise around the edge of the screen star ting from the top left corner. The current programme is displa yed in the centre of the screen.
29 Surround Sound Advanced Remote Control Operation ■ Manufacturer’s Code Settings This Remote Control has been designed to work with a variety of VCRs and D VD play ers. In order f or this to occur, the setting for the VCR or D VD must be progr ammed into the Remote Control.
30 Advanced Remote Control Operation ■ VCR / DVD The Remote Control is capable of oper ating some functions of selected Panasonic VCRs and D VD (Digital V ersatile Disc) equipment.
31 Teletext Operation T eletext is only a vailable on certain broadcast channels. The time tak en to display the pages and sub-pages is set by the telete xt transmitter and not b y the television. T eletext is also used f or Closed Captioning of television prog rammes.
32 Teletext Operation INDEX Pressing this button returns you to the main inde x page. Red / Green / Y ellow / Blue buttons In F ASTEXT or TOP mode these correspond to the diff erently coloured subjects. In List mode they correspond to the diff erently coloured page numbers.
33 Teletext Operation TIME TEXT * TIME TEXT * When a P age has more than one screen (sub-page) of information, you ma y hav e to wait f or some time before the sub-page y ou require becomes av ailable. With this function it is possible to enter the n umber of the desired sub-page.
