BEFORE YOU BEGIN 1 Choosing a Location for Y our Phone For best r eception quality choose a location for the base unit of y our new telephone: • aw ay from microw ave ovens • aw ay from TVs, VCRs, stereo equipment and computers (Cordless telephones operate at a r adio frequency that may cause interfer ence with these types of equipment.
Before Y ou Install 1 Choose a location for the base near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. This phone requires a modular telephone jac k and a standard electrical outlet (110v AC) not contr olled b y a wall s witch. 2 Install the handset battery.

INST ALLA TION 4 3 Charge the handset battery. Place the handset in the base. Charge the battery for at least 12 hours the first time. 4 Check for dial tone. After the batteries are charg ed, pick up the handset and press P ; you should hear a dial tone.

8 TELEPHONE OPERA TION A T THE HANDSET Operating Range This cordless telephone operates within the maximum pow er allowed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

TELEPHONE OPERA TION A T THE BASE 10 Indicates a new call has been r eceived If you subscribe to telephone company voice mail with a visual message waiting signal, light flashes when you have voice mail waiting. NOTE: When the handset is in use the P ag e/Inter com and Handset Locator f eatures ar e inactive.
11 Y ou can store 10 telephone number s (up to 16 digits each) in the base memor y locations (0-9). Store a Number in Base Memor y 1 Press g on the base to enter programming mode. The SPEAKER light f lashes. 2 Press the dial pad key (0-9) for the location where y ou want to store the number .
12 TELEPHONE DIRECTOR Y The cordless handset can store 50 telephone numbers with names, each up to 24 digits long. Entries are stored alphabetically . For consistency with Caller ID entries, you may wish to enter last names first. Note: Pr ess O at any time to e xit directory .
13 4 When you finish entering the name, press S or G . The screen displa ys ENTER NUMBER . 5 Enter the telephone number . Use < to backspace and make a correction. Press P to store a pause in the dialing sequence. —OR— Press P to display the last number dialed from this phone.
14 Delete a Number/Name Stored in the Director y 1 Press > (DIR). The screen displa ys DIRECTORY . 2 Press < or > to scroll alphabetically through entries stored in memor y —OR— Press the dial pad key for the first letter of the entr y you want to delete.
15 CALLER ID OPERA TION About Call Histor y This phone assigns each incoming call a number from 1 to 90. The most recent call will have the highest number . When the memor y is full, the oldest call information is deleted to make room f or new incoming call information.
16 CALLER ID OPERA TION Delete Records from Call Histor y Delete a Specific Call 1 Locate the record y ou want to delete from call histor y . 2 Press S , then press < or > until ERASE f lashes. 3 Press S . The screen displa ys ERASE NO YES ALL and the phone number .
17 CALLER ID OPERA TION Store a Call Histor y Record in the Directory 1 Locate the record in call history you want to store in memor y . 2 If you wish to c hange how the number is stored, pr ess # . The screen displa ys any alternate dialing sequences available for this call (ar ea code + number; 1 + area code + number; 1+ number; number only).
18 Charge the Handset Batter y Pack • This batter y should remain charg ed up to six days with the ring er turned on and up to 10 days with the ringer off. A fully charg ed batter y provides an av erage talk time of about 10 hours. • The batter y pack needs c harging when: — A new batter y is installed in the handset.
19 Replacing the Handset Batter y Pack 1 Remove the battery compartment cover on the handset by pressing on the indentation and sliding the cov er downward. 2 Lift out the old battery pack and disconnect. 3 Align the two holes in the new battery pack’s plug with the socket pins, and snap the plug into place.

21 If you hear noise or interference when using the phone: • Make sure the base antenna is fully upright. • Y ou may be out of rang e. Move closer to the base. • Press and release G to c hange to another of the 30 c hannels available. If noise is exceptionally loud, mov e closer to the base bef ore changing channels.
