BEFORE YOU BEGIN 1 About the Base and the Charger This product provides y ou with a base station with corded handset, a cordless handset, and a handset charg er . Y ou’ll need to connect the base to both AC po wer and a modular telephone jack. Y ou’ ll connect the handset charg er to AC power onl y .
About Call Histor y This phone assigns each incoming call a number from 1 to 90. The most recent call will have the lo west number . When the memor y is full, the oldest call information is deleted to make room f or new incoming call information. If you ans wer a call bef ore inf or mation appears on the screen, it may not be in the call histor y .
3 Connect the power cord. The ANSWER ON/OFF light goes on, and CL f lashes in the Message Window . 4 Check for dial tone. Lift the handset; you should hear a dial tone. INST ALLA TION 4 Wall Mount 1 Remove the adapter from under the base as shown. 2 Reverse handset tab. 3 Connect the telephone line cord to the jack labeled TEL LINE on the back of the base. 4 Connect the power cord to the jack labeled DC IN on the back of the base.
INST ALLA TION 5 5 W rap the telephone line cord ar ound the posts on the bottom of the base. 6 Replace the adapter on the base so the larger end is towar d the bottom as shown.
INST ALLA TION 6 7 Connect the corded handset to the base. 8 Connect the telephone line cord to the modular telephone jack. 9 Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet. The ANSWER ON/OFF light goes on, and CL f lashes in the Messa g e Windo w . Use only the pow er cord supplied with this product.
7 INST ALLA TION Handset Charger Installation 1 Connect the power cord. Feed the power cor d through the strain-relief channel on the bottom of the handset charg er . Then plug the cord into an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall s witch. CHARGING Light: on when handset is in charging stand 2 Install the handset battery.
INST ALLA TION 8 3 Charge the handset battery. • Place the handset in the remote charging stand. The CHARGING light goes on. • Charge the battery at least 12 hour s. 4 Check for dial tone. • After the batteries are charg ed, lift the handset and press P ; you should hear a dial tone.
9 INST ALLA TION Headset Y ou can use this telephone with any industr y standard 2.5 mm headset (purc hased separately). For best results, use an A T&T 2.
10 TELEPHONE OPERA TION A T THE BASE Speaker Volume While on a call, use to adjust the volume of what you hear . Base Ringer Volume Switch Use to adjust how loudly the base rings. Display Dial Press to dial the number currently display ed on screen. Make, Answer , or End a Call Press K .
11 Make a Call Press P , then dial the number — OR — Dial the number (use < to backspace and correct digits), then press P to call. Flash/ Call Waiting Access special telephone company subscriber ser vices. Redial Press P , then press R to call last number dialed (up to 32 digits).
12 Handset Ringer Style/Batter y Save Y ou can select from four different handset ring er styles, or turn the ringer off and extend the battery life. 1 Make sure the handset is off. 2 Press G to enter programming mode. 3 Press > until the screen displays RINGER: .
13 TELEPHONE OPERA TION A T THE HANDSET Operating Range This cordless telephone operates within the maximum pow er allowed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
14 TELEPHONE DIRECTOR Y A T THE BASE OR HANDSET The base and cordless handset can each stor e 50 telephone number s with names, each up to 24 digits long. Director y information is stored independently at the base and cor dless handset. Changes made to entries at one location do not affect the other director y .
15 TELEPHONE DIRECTOR Y A T THE BASE OR HANDSET 4 When you finish entering the name, press S . The screen displa ys ENTER NUMBER . 5 Enter the telephone number . Use < to backspace and make a correction. Press r to store a pause in the dialing sequence.
16 Delete a Number/Name Stored in the Director y 1 Press > (DIR). The screen displays DIRECTORY . 2 Press < or > to scroll alphabetically through entries stored in memor y —OR— Press the dial pad key for the first letter of the entr y you want to delete.

18 CALLER ID OPERA TION Delete Records from Call Histor y Delete a Specific Call 1 Locate the record y ou want to delete from call histor y . 2 Press S , then press < or > until ERASE f lashes. 3 Press S . The screen displays ERASE NO YES ALL and the phone number .
19 CALLER ID OPERA TION Store a Call Histor y Record in the Directory 1 Locate the record in call history you want to store in memor y . 2 If you wish to c hange how the number is stor ed, press # . The screen displa ys any alternate dialing sequences available for this call (ar ea code + number; 1 + area code + number; 1+ number; number only).

23 Listen to, Save & Delete Messages The system automatically sav es your messages until y ou delete them, and can store approximately 15 minutes of messag es, memos, and announcements (up to a maximum of 99 messages). After playing a messag e, the system announces the day and time it w as received.
24 ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERA TION A T THE BASE Call Screening/Intercept 1 Make sure the ans wering system is on, and set the messa g e playback volume control abov e level 1 so y ou can hear the caller’ s message. 2 If you decide to take the call, press P on the cordless handset, pick up the corded handset, or press K on the base.
25 ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERA TION A T TOUCH TONE PHONE Connect with the Answering System Y ou can access many features of this system r emotely from a touc h tone phone. 1 Dial your telephone number . 2 When the system answ ers, press # , then within two seconds enter your Remote Access Code (preset to 19).

27 Charge the Handset Batter y Pack • This batter y should remain charg ed up to six days with the ringer turned on and up to 10 days with the ringer off. A fully charg ed batter y provides an av erage talk time of about 10 hours. • The batter y pack needs charging when: — A new batter y is installed in the handset.
28 Replacing the Handset Batter y Pack 1 Remove the battery compartment cover on the handset by pressing on the indentation and sliding the cov er downward. 2 Lift out the old battery pack and disconnect. 3 Align the two holes in the new battery pack’s plug with the socket pins, and snap the plug into place.

30 If you hear noise or interference when using the cordless handset: • Make sure the base antenna is fully upright. • Y ou may be out of rang e. Move closer to the base. • Press and release G to c hange to another of the 30 c hannels available.
31 If messages are incomplete: • If a caller leaves a v er y long message, par t of it ma y be lost when the system disconnects the call after three minutes. • If the caller pauses for mor e than seven seconds, the system stops recording and disconnects the call.
32 If your outgoing announcement isn’t clear: • When you recor d your announcement, make sure you speak in a normal tone of voice, a bout nine inches fr om the base. • Make sure there is no “background” noise (TV , music, etc.) while you are recor ding.
