30 1 Getting Started Attaching the Strap Attach the strap (O-ST122) supplied with the came ra. 1 Pass the thin st ring of the st rap through the str ap lug of the camera. 2 Pass the other end of the strap thr ough the loop of thin string, and fasten the loop.
31 1 Getting Started Powering the Camera Use the supplied battery charger (D-BC 122) to charge the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery (D -LI1 22) before usin g it in the camera for the first time or after a long peri od of non-use, or when the [Battery depleted] message appears.

35 1 Getting Started Use of the AC adapter kit K-AC1 22 (optional) with a household power supply is recommended if you intend to use the camera for a long ti me or connect it to a computer. 1 Make sure that the ca mera is turned off and open the battery/card cover .
36 1 Getting Started 6 Connect the DC terminal of the AC adapter to the DC terminal of the DC coupler. 7 Connect the AC plug cord to the AC adapter. 8 Plug the AC plug co rd into the power out let. • Make sure that the camera is turned off before connecting or disconnecting the AC adapter.
37 1 Getting Started Installing the SD Memory Card This camera uses an SD Memory Card, an SDHC Memory Card, or an SDXC Memory Card. (All cards are referred to as SD Memory Car ds hereafter.) Captured images are saved on the SD Memory Card if a card is inserted in the camera.

64 3 Taking Pict ures Taking Still Pictures The Optio VS20 features a wide range of shooting modes and functions to suit almost any subject or scene. This chapter describes how to take pictures with the most commonly used standard setting s (the factory default settings).
65 3 Taking Pict ures When you hold the camera vertical ly, indication s on the displa y are auto matically disp layed in vertical orientation. Use the shutter release button/zoom lever for vertica l shooting. (In t his manual, they a re generally described as th e shutter release button/zo om lever.
