6 Bat t ery install ation and char ging Install the batt ery as shown on page 7. Once you have install ed the battery , the screen indicates the bat tery status (see the tabl e below). If necessary , place the handset in the telephone base or charger to char ge the battery .
Bat t ery install ation and char ging Getting st arted 7 BY 1021 BT183342/BT283342 Step 1 Plug the battery connector secur ely into the sock et inside the handset battery compartment, matching the color-coded label. Insert the supplied battery with the label THIS SIDE UP facing up as indicated.
Adding and r egist ering handsets Befor e using a new CL80111 handset, you must register it with the A T&T CL83101/CL83201/CL83301/CL83351/CL83401/CL83451 telephone syst em (purchased separately). The t elephone system can support up to 12 handsets.
9 Deregistering handsets You may need to deregister your handsets if: You ha ve 12 reg ist ered hand set s a nd need to r epl ace a hand set. -OR- You wish to change the designated handset number of your registered handsets. You must first deregister ALL handsets, and then register each handset you wish to use again, one at a time.

T r oubleshooting Appendix 11 If the previous suggestions do not work, disconnect the telephone base fr om the telephone jack and connect the jack t o a different phone. If ther e is no dial tone on that phone either , the problem is in y our wiring or telephone service.
T r oubleshooting Appendix Out of range OR No pwr a t base appears on my cor dless handset. Ensure you plug the t elephone base in properly and the power is on. Place the cor dless handset in the telephone base for one minute to allow the c ordless handset and base to synchr onize.
I get noise, sta tic, or weak signals even when I’m near the tel ephone base. If you subscribe to high-speed Internet servic e (DSL - digital subscriber line) through your t elephone line, you must install a DSL filter between the t elephone line cord and the telephone wall jack.
My cor dless handset does not ring when I r eceive a call. Make sur e that the ringer is not off. Refer t o Ringer volume in the CL83101/CL83201/CL83301/CL83351/CL83401/CL83451 user’s manual provided with y our telephone. Make sur e you plug the telephone line cord secur ely into the telephone base and tel ephone jack.
T r oubleshooting Appendix My calls cut in and out while I’m using my c ordless handset. Other electronic pr oducts such as HAM radios and other DECT phones can cause interfer ence with your cordless phone. T ry installing your phone as far aw ay as possible from these types of electronic devic es.

T r oubleshooting Appendix The char ge light is off or blinking. Make sur e you plug the power and line cords in correctl y and securely . Unplug the electrical power . Wait for 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow up to one minute f or the cordl ess handset and telephone base to r eset.
