4 Getting started Handset main menu To enter the main menu: 1. Press MENU/ SELECT when the handset is not in use. 2. Press CID or DIR to select a handset feature menu, then press MENU /SELECT to enter that menu. To return to the idle mode, press OFF/ CLEAR .
5 Getting started T elephone base installation The telephone base can be placed on a flat surf ace or vertically mount ed on the wall (page 7). For optimum r ange and better r eception, place the telephone base in a centr al and open location.

7 Getting started Install ation options The telephone base is designed for both deskt op installation and wall mount installation. If wall mounting is desired, a t elephone outlet wall mounting plate with mounting studs is r equired.

After installing the battery , you can make and receive short calls, but replace the handset in the telephone base when not in use. For optimal performance, charge the handset battery for at least 16 hours before use.

T elephone operation 20 REMOVE Options while on calls T emporary tone dialing If dial pulse (rotary) is sel ected, you can switch to touch t one dialing during a call by pressing T ONE * . This can be useful if it is necessary to send tone signals for long-dist ance services.
Dir ectory Memory capacity The handset directory can st ore up to 30 entries (including nine speed dial entries). Each entry can contain a number up to 24 digit s, and a name up to 14 charact ers. A convenient sear ch feature can help you find and dial numbers quickly (page 25).
22 Speed dial You can enter nine speed dial numbers of up to 30 digits. Each number is stored in a speed dial location (1-9). The nine speed dial numbers on handset will be automatically added to the handset directory. You can also make existing directory entries into speed dial entries (page 26).

35 My telephone does not work at all. • Make sure the batt ery is installed and charged c orrectly (page 9). For optimum daily perf ormance, return the cordl ess handset to the telephone base aft er use. • Make sure the power adapter is secur ely plugged into an outlet not connected t o a wall switch.
36 There is no dial tone. • First, try all the suggestions in My telephone does not work at all , on the previous page. • Move the cordless handset closer t o the telephone base. It might be out of range. • The telephone line cord might be malfunctioning.
