14 Telephone Operation T URNING CALLER ID/CALL W AITING ON OR OFF If you have Call Waiti ng and Call er ID ser- vice, y ou can set th e answe ring syste m to show Caller ID informati on for an incoming call ev en while y ou are on the ph one. Follow these steps to turn the Ca ller I D/Call Waiting feature on or off.

16 Telephone Operation SWITCHING BETWEEN THE HANDSET AND SPEAKERPHONE To switch to the speakerph one while you are using th e handset, pre ss SPEA KER on the base.

18 Memory Dialing ˆ Memory Dialing You can store up to 2 0 phone numbers and names in memory , then dia l a sto red numbe r by ente ring its m emory lo cation nu mber. Each stor ed numb er can be up t o 20 digi ts, and eac h name c an be up t o 13 chara cters.

20 Caller ID Operation DIALING A MEMORY NUMBER To dial a num ber sto red in memor y, lift the handse t and pre ss MEM . T he list of memory locatio n numbe rs appears. C hoose a memo - ry loc ation (0 1–20) by pres sing a number or by repeat edly pre ssing VO L/CID 8 8 8 8 or 9 9 9 9 , then press TA L K .
21 Caller ID Operation The top li ne of eac h record sh ows the d ate, time and the number of cal ls from that num - ber. The second line shows th e ca ller’s name, an d the th ird line s hows the caller’s phone n umber. To exit t he Calle r ID record dis play, pre ss CALL ID .
22 Answering System Operation 3. Choose a memory location (01–2 0) by pressin g a number or by re peatedly press ing VOL/CI D 9 9 9 9 or 8 8 8 8 , then press CH/SELECT . If the sel ected loc ation is em pty , the phone bee ps to co nfi rm th at it s tore d the number , then the Caller ID record appears .
23 Answering System Operation The ot her is simply an anno uncemen t and does no t let th e cal ler lea ve a mes sage: “H el- lo, no one is availa ble to ta ke yo ur call.” The answe ring sy stem use s this message when REC TIME is set to ANN (an nouncem ent only ).
