4 USER Intr oduction Pr oduct Overview Thank you for choosing the Russound SaphIR ™ K2 keypad. The K2 is an in-wall programmable IR keypad that works like a uni- versal remote to pr ovide complete control of your audio and video components.

6 USER Optional SRC1 Basic Remote Contr ol POWER KEY – T urns the keypad on and of f. Press and hold for All On or All Off function. NUMERIC KEYS – For direct selection of channels or tracks. VOLUME UP/DOWN KEY – Raises and lowers the amp/receiver volume.
7 POWER KEY – T urns the keypad on and of f while in System mode. Press and hold for All On or All Off function. SYSTEM MODE KEY – Selects System mode to control the SaphIR K2 keypad and connected sources. The r emote must be in System mode to work with the SaphIR K2 keypad.
8 USER Keypad Operation On/Off Press and r elease to turn on the K2 keypad. This will also activate any speakers wired thr ough the speak- er relay on the back of the K2. If power management is set up on your keypad, turning on the keypad will also turn on your amp/receiver and sour ce components.
9 USER Keypad Operation F1 and F2 Keys The and preset keys ar e for saving and recall- ing a source selection and favorite disk or channel. T o save a pr eset , first select a source. Next, pr ess and hold the or key until SAVED appears on the dis- play .
10 INST ALLER Getting Started About this Section The rest of this manual pr ovides technical information for installing and programming the SaphIR K2 keypad. This section is intended mostly for installers, but users may find the information useful as well.

19 INST ALLER Pr ogramming Overview Pr ogramming Methods There ar e two ways to program the SaphIR K2 keypad. The easier method is to use EZpr o software on a connected Windows-based computer , but you can also program the keypad manually using the pr ogramming menu described in this section.
20 INST ALLER Pr ogramming Overview Recommended Pr ocess It will be much easier to program the SaphIR K2 if you follow the steps in a particular order , especially if you’re pr ogramming it manually . Here’ s the or der we recommend for initial setup: 1.
21 11. Amp/Receiver Key Configuration (page 24) – By default, the Source key selects sour ces and the Volume keys adjust the output volume of the amp/receiver . Y ou may wish to reconfigur e these keys to perform alter- nate functions. The Amp/Receiver Key Configuration procedur e allows you to do this.

26 Learn IR Pr ocedur e (continued) These locations are called Learned Sour ces. Learned commands can be assigned in other procedur es by selecting Learned IR as a command type and then selecting the corresponding Learned Sour ce label. See Learn IR Procedur e flow chart on page 45.

40 SYSTEM MENU The System Menu contains items that allow you to obtain information about the keypad and perform various utilities. T o enter the System Menu, select SYSTEM from the top level of the Pr ogramming Menu and press Play .
41 3. LOOKING FOR... – The sending keypad looks for the keypad(s) to copy to. When the sending keypad locates the r eceiving keypad(s), RDY TO RECEIVE appears on the receiving keypad(s). If a r eceiving keypad is not located, NOT FOUND appears on the sending keypad.
42 Update Firmware Pr ocedure (Optional) This procedur e allows you to update the SaphIR K2’ s firmware fr om a computer using a Russound Programming Cable (part number 2500-121036) connected to the programming port on the side of the keypad (see diagram on page 18).
