4 Section 1: Getting Star ted Understanding this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow the sa me order as the menus and sub-menus in yo ur phone. A robust index for quick reference to most features begins on page 150. Also inc luded is importa nt safety information that you should know before using your phone.
Getting Started 5 Batter y Indicator The battery indicator in the upper -right corner of the display indicates battery power level. Four ba rs indicate a full charge, while an empty ic on indicates an almost empty battery.
6 2. Insert the top end of the ba ttery into the phone housing using the Directio nal arrow printed on the battery . The gold contacts at the battery end must align with cont acts on the phone. Push bottom end of the battery down until it snaps into place.
Getting Started 7 2. Lift the battery from the bottom en d and remove. 3. Slide the battery cover up un til it snaps into pl ace. Char ging t he Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable standard Li-ion battery . Only use Samsung-approved ch arging devices and batteries.
8 Wall Charger The wall charger is a convenie nt, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phone fr om any 120/ 220 V AC outlet. 1. Pull the connector cover out a nd turn to expose the connector . Insert the wall charger adapter end with the arrow up into the connecto r at the bottom of the phone .
Getting Started 9 Setting Up V oicemail* Voicemail allows calle rs to leave voice me ssages. Note: Once your voicemail account has been set up, you can use the voicemail selection 5 (under the Messaging menu) to view details of voice messages in your voicemail box.

14 Command K eys Functions for the soft keys are defined by what a ppears above each in the display . There are two soft keys , the left soft key and the right soft key . Left Soft Key Some functi ons of the lef t soft key are a s follows. • T ouch the Message (left) soft key to open the Message menu.

Directional K eys Use the Directional keys (up, down, left, right) to browse menus, sub-menus, and lists. Each key also acts as a short cut to launch applications.
16 Display icons The following list c ont ains icons that may appear in your display . Airplane Mode : Appears w hen Airpl an e Mode is on. When on, all RF functions for your phone are disabled, and you cannot use your phone to place or receive calls.

Making a Call 1. Slide the phone up and enter the phone number to call using the numeric keypad an d press the Send key .

Call Functions 25 V oice Commands Voice Commands is advan ced spee ch recognition software that can be used to activate a wide variety of f unctions on your phone. Voice Commands software automa tically voice activates all contacts for voi ce dialing and se arching, no pre-recording or training needed.

For example , When the Inbox exceeds 150 text messages, the first message in the list is re placed with the next i ncoming message.

Note: If Auto Receive is set to On the message will automatically display. Message Folders Y our phone provides default messa ge folders for your T ext and Multimedia messages.

68 5. For T ext and Multimedia messages, touch REPL Y to reply to the message. Note: When the Inbox exceeds 150 text messages, the first message in the list is replaced with the next incoming message. Multimedia messages are replaced when the phone’ s maximum memory is reached.

Note: Y our phone does not allo w you to view the lock code for obvious security reasons.

96 TTY Y our phone is fully TTY compat ible. Connect th e TTY equipment to the headset jack. Before you can use yo ur phone with a TT Y device, you’ll need to enable TTY functions in the phone. 1.
