Assembling 14 Keys Key F unc tion P ower/ Reset 1 / Lock T urn on the device (press and hold); Acc ess the device options (press and hold); Reset the device (press and hold for 8-10 seconds); T urn off and lock the touch screen or turn it on.
Assembling 15 Inser t the SIM or USIM card and the battery When you subscribe to a c ellular ser vice, y ou will receive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, with subscription details, such as y our personal identification number (PIN) and optional ser vices .
Assembling 16 Inser t the SIM or USIM card with the gold-coloured 2 contacts facing downw ards. Do not inser t a memor y card int o the SIM card slot. If the memor y card becomes lodged in the SIM car d slot, you must take y our device to a Samsung Ser vice Cen tre to hav e the memor y card r emoved .
Assembling 17 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time or when the batt er y has been unused for an extended period, y ou must charge the battery . Y ou can charge the batter y with a trav el adapter or by connecting the device to a comput er with a USB cable.
Assembling 18 Charge with a tr av el adapter › Plug the small end of the trav el adapter into the 1 multifunction jack . Connecting the trav el adapter improperly may cause serious damage to the device . Any damage caused by misuse is not cov ered by the warran ty .
Assembling 19 When the battery is fully charged, first unplug the tra vel 3 adapter from the devic e, and then from the electrical socket. Do not remov e the battery while the device is connected to the trav el adapter . Doing so may damage the device.
Assembling 20 Charge with a USB cable › Before char ging, ensure that y our computer is turned on. Plug the small end (micro-USB) of the USB cable into the 1 multifunction jack . Plug the large end of the USB cable int o a USB por t on a 2 computer .
Assembling 21 Inser t a memor y card (optional) Y our device accepts memor y cards with maximum capacities of 64 GB. Depending on the memory card manufacturer and type, some memor y cards ma y not be compatible with your device.
Assembling 22 Push the memory card into the memory card slot until it 3 locks in place. Replace the back cov er . 4 Remov e a memor y card › Ensure that the devic e is not currently accessing the memory ca rd. In the application list, select 1 Settings → S torage → Unmount SD card → OK .
23 Getting star ted Getting star ted T urn on or off y our device Pr ess and hold the P ower key . 1 Enter the PIN supplied with y our SIM or USIM card and 2 select OK (if necessar y). If you are turning on your devic e for the first time , follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device .
24 Getting star ted Use the t ouch screen Y our device’ s touch screen lets y ou easily select items or per form functions. Learn basic actions for using the t ouch screen. Do not press the touch scr een with your fingertips, ● or use sharp tools on the touch screen.
25 Getting star ted Contr ol your touch scr een with the following actions: Ta p T ouch once to select or launch a menu, option, or application. T ap and hold T ap an item and hold it for mor e than 2 seconds. Dra g T ap an item and mov e it to a new location.
26 Getting star ted Flick Brisk ly scroll up , down, left, or right to move thr ough lists or screens. Pinch Place two of y our fingers far apar t, and then pinch them together . Y our device turns off the touch screen when you do ● not use it for a specified period.
27 Getting star ted Use motions Built-in motion rec ognition allows y ou to per form actions by moving your devic e or mak ing gestures with y our hands. T o use these functions, you must first activate the motion recog nition featur e. In the application list, select Settings → Motion .
28 Getting star ted T ilt While holding the device with two hands, tap and hold two points on the screen, and then tilt the device back and forth to zoom in or out when viewing images or brow sing webpages.
29 Getting star ted Shake Shake your device t o search for ● Bluetooth devices . Shake your device t o update ● the list of email messages or information fr om Y ahoo News, Y ahoo F inance, or AccuW eather . Updates will not w ork for widgets on the Home screen.

45 Getting star ted Activat e the F ind my mobile f eature › When someone inserts a new SIM or USIM card into your lost or stolen device , the F ind my mobile f eature will send the contact number to your specified r ecipients automatically , so that you can locat e and reco ver your devic e.
46 Getting star ted Enter t ext Y ou can enter text by speak ing wor ds into the microphone, by selecting characters on the vir tual keypad, or by writing on the screen. T ext entr y is not suppor ted in some languages . T o enter text, you must change the input language to one of the suppor ted languages .

Communication 56 Set call waiting › Call waiting is a network f eature that alerts you to an incoming call while you ar e on another call. This feature is available only f or voice calls .
