14 MINIDISC OPERA TION 1 Press the ON/ST AND-BY button to turn the power on. 2 Press the MD ■ button. 3 Load a MiniDisc in the direction indicated b y the ar- ro w on the MiniDisc, with the labeled side facing up. ● The disc name will be display ed only when the name has been programmed onto the disc.

MiniDiscs are single sided and should only be inser ted with the correct side up in the direction of the arrow on the top of the MiniDisc. 29 ■ Divide ■ Combine 1 Play the trac k which you want to divide into tw o, and press the MD 06 06 06 06 06 b utton at the point where you want to divide the track. 2 Press the NAME/TOC EDIT b utton, and within 10 sec- onds, select "DIVIDE" using the jog dial.
30 ■ Move 1 While in the stop mode, select the trac k you want to move using the jog dial. Or start playing the track to be mo ved, and then press the MD 06 06 06 06 06 b utton. 2 Press the NAME/T OC EDIT b utton, and within 10 sec- onds, select "MOVE" using the jog dial.
31 ■ Erase T o erase all of the tracks at once: 1 Press the MD ■ button. ● The total number of tracks and the total pla ying time on a MiniDisc will appear . 2 Press the NAME/T OC EDIT b utton, and within 10 sec- onds, select "ALL ERASE" using the jog dial.
32 TIMER OPERA TION ■ Timer playbac k/Timer recording 6 T urn the jog dial to set the minute to star t, and then press the MEMOR Y/ENTER button. I If the ending time is not set manually , it will automatically be set for one hour after the starting time.

34 ■ Connecting external units ■ Headphones Notes: ● Before plugging in or unplugging the headphones , make sure the volume le vel is reduced. ● Be sure your headphones hav e a 1/8" (3.5 mm) diameter plug and are between 16 ohms and 50 ohms impedance.
35 ■ Listening to sound from an e xternal unit T o listen to sound from an e xter nal unit connected to the AUX input terminals: ■ Manual recor ding Y ou can start a recording manually while listening to play- back from other e xter nal equipment (tape deck, tuner) con- nected to the auxiliary input.
36 The disc is stored in a car tridge. Y ou can handle it easily with- out worrying about dust, finger pr ints, etc. Howe ver , dust en- tering the opening of the car tridge, dir t on the car tridge, warp- ing, etc. may cause malfunctions . Please note the following.
37 ■ If a prob lem occurs If this unit functions abnormally dur ing operation, first check the f ollowing items. If the unit continues to function abnormally , or if an abnormality appears other than listed below , set this unit to the stand-by mode and disconnect the AC po wer plug, then consult your SHARP dealer or service personnel.
