Nev er assume that children will remain where you last sa w them. 1. K eep children out of the mowing area and under the watchful care of another responsib le adult.
4 WARNING: To avoid serious injury, operate your unit up and down the face of slopes, never across the face. Do not operate on slopes greater than 10 degrees. Make turns gradually to prevent tipping or loss of control. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.

8 IDENTIFICA TION NUMBERS ID T a g When contacting the service center for replacement parts, service, or information you MUST ha ve these numbers. Record your model name/n umber , manuf acturer’ s identification numbers, and engine serial numbers in the space provided f or easy access.
9 OPERA TION Ground Speed Le vers / P arking Brake These le vers control the g round speed and parking brake of the rider . The left lev er controls the left rear dr iv e wheel and the right lev er controls the r ight rear drive wheel and parking brake .
10 Mower Cutting Height Switc h T o increase the mower cutting height (raise the mo wer deck), press the top of the y ellow cutting height switch. T o decrease mower cutting height (lo wer the mow er deck), press the bottom of the s witch. Mower cutting height range is appro ximately 3-3/4” to 1-1/2”.
11 W ARNING Never allo w passengers to ride on the unit. Before lea ving the operator’ s position for an y reason, engage the parking brake and disengage t h e P TO. N e ver lea ve the unit unattended (i.e. out of sight) with the engine running. T o reduce fire hazar d, keep the engine, rider and mower free of grass, leaves and excess grease.
12 PUSHING THE RIDER BY HAND NO TE: Do not disengage the transmissions if parked on a slope. 1. T ur n the mo wer blades OFF , push the ground speed control le vers out to their ST AR T/P ARK positions, turn the ignition s witch OFF , remove the key , and w ait f or all moving parts to stop.
13 DRIVING PRA CTICE - B ASIC DRIVING W ARNING: Nev er operate on slopes greater than 17.6% (10°). See SLOPE OPERA TION in the safety section. Zero turn r iders operate diff erently from other four- wheeled vehicles . The drive wheels are also y our steering wheels.

16 MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE The f ollowing schedules should be f ollowed f or nor mal care of your rider and mow er . * More often in hot (over 85° F: 30° C) weather or dusty oper ating conditions. ** Check the function of the saf ety system after the unit has been stored f or 30 da ys or longer .
17 Rider Maintenance Items A CCESSING THE ENGINE COMP AR TMENT Lift up on the back edge of the seat dec k to access the engine compar tment. CLEAN DEBRIS FR OM RIDER AND ENGINE COMP AR TMENT Service Interval: Bef ore each use. CA UTION: If debris is not removed fr om the engine compartment and other hot surfaces, it creates a fire hazard.

19 CLEAN DECK & CHECK / REPLA CE MO WER BLADES Service Interval: 25 hours or as required. 1. Remov e mower deck (see “Mower Dec k Removal” in the OPERA TION section). 2. See Figure 20. Remov e blade to inspect it or to saf ely access the underside of the mower dec k.
20 CLEAN THE B A TTER Y AND CABLES Service Interval: 100 Hours 1. Disconnect the cables from the battery , negative cable first (B , Figure 23). 2. Remov e the r ubber str ap securing the batter y , and remov e the batter y . 3. Clean the batter y and battery compar tment with a solution of baking soda and water .
21 CHECK / ADJUST PT O CLUTCH Service Interval: 200 Hours. The P ower T ake Off (PT O) clutch drives the mow er blades . The PT O clutch is engaged and disengaged by the mower b lade switch. Chec k the PT O clutch adjustment e very 200 hours of operation.

25 SER VICE & ADJUSTMENTS GR OUND SPEED CONTROL LEVER ADJUSTMENT The control le vers ha ve three adjustments: T o Adjust Contr ol Lever Height: Pull the le vers in across the operator’ s lap to their DRIVE positions. Loosen the mount bolts (D , Figure 32) and raise or lo wer the le vers to the desired position.
26 BRAKE ADJUSTMENT 1. Stop the unit, turn the ignition OFF , set the ground speed le vers to P ARK positions, and w ait for all moving parts to stop. 2. Locate the brak e rod (A, Figure 34) and adjustment nut (B). 4. Measure the parking brake spring.

29 ST ORA GE W ARNING Never store the unit (with fuel) in an enc losed, poorly ventilated structure. Fuel vapor s can travel to an ignition sour ce (such as a furnace, water heater , etc.) and cause an explosion. Fuel vapor is also to xic to humans and animals.
30 TR OUBLESHOO TING While normal care and regular maintenance will extend the lif e of your equipment, prolonged or constant use ma y e ventually require that service be performed to allow it to continue operating properly . The troubleshooting guide below lists the most common prob lems, their causes and remedies.
