5 Clean the flash surface before use The heat of f lash emission may caus e dirt on the flash surface to become discolored or to stick to the flash su rfac e, re su lting in ins u fficient light emission. Do not get the camera wet When taking pict ures outdoors in the rain or under simil ar conditions , be careful no t to get the camera wet.

13 Getting star te d Number of images and battery life that can be recorded / viewed The tables show the appr oximate number of images and the bat tery life that can be r ecorded/ viewed when you shoot images in normal mode with a fully charged battery pack at a tem perature of 25°C ( 77°F).

22 Basic still image shooting — Auto adj ustment mod e , Set the mo de dial to , and turn on the pow er. The name of t he folder where the image will be reco rded ap pears o n t he LCD sc r een for approxima tely five seconds. • This camera can create new folders and select folders to be stored in the disc (page 41) .

29 Shooti ng st ill images • If the AF illuminator light does not reach the subject suff iciently or the subject has weak contrast, focus will not be achi eved. (An approximate distance of 0.3 m to 2.3 m (11 7/8 inches to 7 f eet 6 1/2 inches) is recommended.
30 Inserting the date and time on a still image , Set the mo de dial to SET UP . The SET UP scree n appears. • When im ages are s hot with the date a nd time superimposed, the date and tim e cannot be removed later.
