After you press x , the r ecorder will automa tically turn off in about 10 secon ds (when usi ng batteries) or about 5 mi nutes (when using AC power adaptor).

20 G-PR O TECTION function The G-PR OTECTION function has been developed to provide excellent protect ion against sound ski pping during many active uses. This fun c tion provide s a higher level of shock prote c tion during pla yback than the tradit ional one.
21 V arious ways of recor ding T wo ways of connecting to a sound sour ce The input j ack of this re corder works as b o th digital a nd analog in put jacks. Co nnect the recor der to a CD pla yer or a cass ette record er using eith er digital (op tical) inpu t or analog (line) inp ut.
22 Recording wit h analog input (line cable requir ed) The soun d will be sent fro m the conn ected equipme nt as analog s i gna l but will be r ecorded digi tally on the di sc. 1 Insert a recordable MD, and then press and slide REC to the right. “ REC ” and the REC indi cator light up in the display and the rec ording star ts.
23 Recording for long times Sele ct ea ch re cordi ng mode a ccording to the recording time that you want. Stereo record ing is possible a t 2 times (LP2) or 4 times (LP4) the normal recordin g time. MDs recorded in m onaural, LP2, or LP4 mode can be pl ayed back on ly on MD playe r s or rec orders with mona ural, LP2, or LP4 pl ayback mode .
24 T o start/stop recor ding in sync with the source player (Synchro- recor ding) Y ou ca n easily make di gital reco rdings of a di gita l source on an MD. Befor e synchro- record ing, make connections to the digi tal source with a digital cable, and in sert a reco rdable MD .
25 Recording without overwriting existing mater ial If you w ish to avoid ov e rwritin g the curr ent con ten ts of an MD, do the follo w i n g procedure. All new materi al will then b e recorded fr o m the end of the curren t conten ts. 1 While the reco rder i s st opped , pre ss the jog le ver (L).
