T ur ning Y our Phone ON and OFF T ur ning Y our Phone On Press . Once your phone is on, it displa ys “Looking for ser vice... ” which indicates that your phone is searc hing for a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode.

Na vig ating Thr ough Phone Menus The navigation key on your phone allows you to scr oll through menus quickl y and easily . The scroll bar at the right of the menu keeps track of y our position in the menu at all times. T o navigate through a menu, simply press the navigation key up or down.
Making and Answ er ing Calls Holding Y our Phone T o maximise performance, do not obstr uct the bottom portion of your phone where the internal antenna is located while using the phone. Making Calls T o place a call with the phone open: 1. Make sure your phone is on.
T o place a call with the phone closed: 1. Make sure your phone is on and the Side K ey Guard featur e is disabled. (See “ Setting the Side K ey Guard ” on page 48.) 2. Press and hold the Side V olume ke y on the left side of the phone. 3. Follow the system prompts and sa y the name of your registered v oice dial ta g (see the note below).

Calling Emer gency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 111 (dial and press ), even if your phone is loc ked or your account is restricted. Once an emergency call is made, y our phone will automatically enter emergency mode. Press Options (right softke y) to display your options: Speaker On to activate speakerphone mode.
In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays menu options by pressing Options (right softke y): Flash to answ er an incoming call while putting the cur rent call in Call W aiting. Mute or Unmute to mute or reactivate y our phone ’ s microp hone.
End-of-Call Options T o display the following options, pr ess Options (right softke y) within ten seconds after disconnecting a call: Call Again to dial the phone number . Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode. Send Message to send a te xt messa ge or a picture messag e.
Finding a Phone Number Y ou can search Contacts entries f or phone numbers that contain a specific string of numbers. 1. Enter the last four or mor e dig its of the number in standby mode. (The more number s you enter , the more specific the search becomes.
Dialling Fr om the Contacts List 1. From standby mode, press Contacts (right softke y). 2. Select the entr y you want to call and press . 3. Highlight the number you wish to call and pr ess or . Note: The icon next to each entry represents the labels (for example, Mobile, Home, W ork, etc.
Making Inter national Calls With Plus Code Dialling Y our phone ’ s plus code dialling feature can automaticall y dial the international access code when you are trav elling outside of New Zealand. (Not available in some areas.) 1. From standby mode, press and hold until a “ + ” sign appears on the phone display .
Recent Messages to enter messages used recentl y . Paste List to paste copied or cut te xt. Fr . Schedule List to use w ords y ou added in your calendar as Schedule (see page 66). From T o Do List to use w ords you added in your calendar as T o Do (see pa ge 68).
T ip: In order to insert a space by pressing , the Auto-Space setting must be on (see page 46). If you make a mistake, press to er ase a single character .
Word Scan to allo w T9 T ext Input to r ecognise words by searching Contacts and messag es. Word Choice List to display the word c hoice list. Show after enter to select when (after one to three digits) to display the w ord choice list. The word choice list will be display ed based on the number of digits you selected.
Enter ing S ymbols, Smile ys, Emoticons, and Pr eset Messages Alternate text entry methods can help speed your messaging and W eb browsing. These methods, including SYMBOL, SMILEYS, Emoticons, or Preset Messages ar e all accessed the same way . 1. Select a te xt entr y method (such as SYMBOL , SMILEYS , Emoticons , or Pre-set Messages ).

Adjusting the Phone ’ s V olume Settings Adjusting the Ring er V olume 1. Select > Settings > Sounds > Volume > Ringer . 2. Select a volume level, 1 Beep , Ringer Off , V ibrate All , or Silence All and press Done (left softkey). T ip: Y ou can make the phone vibrate at any volume level by checking the box next to Always Vibrate .
Selecting Vibr ate T ypes With this f eature, you can select vibrate types f or incoming calls, messages, alarms, and scheduled events. 1. Select > Settings > Sounds > Vibrate T ype . 2. Select Incoming Calls , Messaging , Alarm , or Schedule .
Alert Notification Y our phone can alert you with an audible tone when you c hange service areas, when there are incoming calls or messages, or when your netw ork signal is fading. Y our phone can also aler t you once a minute during a call, or when a call has been connected.
Displa y Set tings Changing the Phone ’ s Menu Style Y our phone allows you to c hoose how the main menu appear s on your displa y screen. 1. Select > Options (r ight softkey) > Change V iew . 2. Select Grid View or List View : Grid View to view each main menu item as an animated single-screen icon.
P ow er Sav e Mode This featur e helps conser ve your batter y power by setting the Main Screen and Outer Screen bac klights to Dim Only , the Main Screen sleep mode to after 30sec. , and the Outer Screen sleep mode to after 5sec. 1. Select > Settings > Display > Power Save Mode .
Changing the Display f or Incoming Calls 1. Select > Settings > Display > Main Screen > Incoming Calls . 2. Select an option ( Preset , My Content , -Get New , My Albums , Assigned Media , or Off ) and press . 3. Select a colour or an image and press twice.
Customising the User Int erf ace Y our phone lets you customise the user interf ace (UI) of the standby screen, Main menu and My Fa vourites settings with your choice of downloaded themes to r ef lect your per sonality . Y ou can download the latest themes directl y into your phone from the corresponding URL.
Changing the Input Font Siz e 1. Select > Settings > Display > Main Screen > Input Font . – or – Select > Settings > More... > Accessibility > Input Font . 2. Select Phone#s , Messaging , or Others . 3. Select an input font size and pr ess .
Location Set tings Y our phone is equipped with a Location featur e for use in connection with location-based services that may be available in the future. Note: The Location feature is currently not available. The Location featur e allows the network to detect your position.
Messaging Set tings Set ting Message Notification Display Y ou can set your phone to displa y an icon and message notification or just display an icon notification when y ou receive a te xt messa ge, picture messag e or voicemail. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Notification .
Set ting Y our Callback Number With this f eature, you can send a callback n umber with your text message. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Callback Number . 2. Press , and then select an option and press : None to send no callback number .
Air plane Mode When your phone is in Airplane mode, it cannot send or receiv e any calls (e xcept for 111 dialling, when within the home networ k) or access online information. Y ou m ay still use the phone ’ s other f eatures, such as voice memo, calculator , calendar , etc.
Phone Setup Options My F av our ites Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a shortcut to a fav our ite or often-used function. Pressing Favourites (left softkey) will launch your user-defined shortcut. T o assign a shortcut: 1. Press Favourites (left softkey).
Set ting T ext Entry Options 1. Select > Settings > T ext Entry . 2. Select an option and press : Auto-Capital to set the auto-capitalisation to On or Off . Auto-Space to set the auto-spacing to On or Off after T9 words y ou enter . My Words to add a word to or edit a wor d in the T9 database (see page 27).
Set ting Contacts Match T o activat e the Contacts Match f eatur e: 1. Select > Settings > More... > Call Setup . 2. Select Contacts Match > On . T o deactivate this feature, select Off . T ip: T o place a call using the Contacts Match feature, see “Using Contacts Match” on page 24.
Set ting Po wer On t o Aler t Po wer On to Alert helps prevent unintentional or accidental power-on of y our phone ’ s alarm settings while your phone is turned of f. This feature applies onl y to Event Alerts, Call Alar m, and Alarm Clock. (The default setting is Off .
5. Secur ity A ccessing the Secur ity Menu All of your phone ’ s security settings are available thr ough the Security menu. Y ou must enter your lock code to vie w the Security menu. 1. Select > Settings > More... > Security . 2. Enter your lock code.
Calling in Lock Mode Y ou can place calls to 111, Customer Ser vice, and to your special numbers even if your phone is locked. (See “ Locking Y our Phone ” on page 49.) Note: Y ou can call only an emergency number while V oice is set to Locked in Restrict and Lock .
Restr icting Calls Y ou can restrict phone numbers your phone dials or receives. (This setting does not apply to 111 or Customer Service.) 1. Select > Settings > More... > Restrict and Lock . 2. Select Voice , and then enter y our lock code. 3.
Er asing the Phone Cont ent 1. From the Security menu display , select Erase/Reset . 2. Select an option and press : Erase Web Cookies to erase all web cookies sav ed in the phone. Erase Web History to erase all web histories saved in the phone.
Reset ting My F av our ites 1. From the Security menu display , select Erase/Reset > Reset Favourites . 2. If you are certain you w ould like to reset, press OK (left softkey) >Y e s . Reset ting Y our Pict ur e Message Account This option resets your authentication ID f or your Picture Message account.
Lost or St olen Phones T o repor t your phone missing, call T elecom Customer Ser vices at 0800 800 163. The y will be able to put a bar on your phone to disable it from being used. Y ou will be asked to load a passwor d that will need to be repeated if you f ind or recover your phone.
6. Call Hist ory V iewing Hist ory Y ou will find the Call Histor y feature v er y helpful. It is a list of the phone numbers (or Contacts entr ies) for calls y ou placed, accepted, or missed.
Prepend to add numbers to the beginning of the phone number . (See “ Prepending a Phone Number From Call Histor y ” on page 57.) Erase to erase the entry . Making a Call F r om Call History 1. Select > Call History . 2. Select Missed Calls , Incoming Calls , Outgoing Calls , or Recent Calls .
Pr epending a Phone Number Fr om Call Hist ory If you need to make a call from Call History and you happen to be outside your local area code, y ou can add the appropriate prefix by prepending the number . 1. Highlight a Call Histor y entr y and press Options (right softkey).
7 . Contacts Displa ying the Contacts List From standby mode, press Contacts (right softkey). A dding a New Contacts Entry Y our phone can store up to 500 Contacts entries. Contacts can store up to a total of 700 phone numbers and each entry ’ s name can contain 32 characters.
T o erase a gr oup member: 1. Select > Contacts > Groups . 2. Select the group entry you want to erase members from and press . 3. Select the member you want to er ase and press Options (right softkey) > Erase > This or All . 4. Select Ye s .
Note: Y our phone will automatically place a call if the voice dial tag is completely recognised. 3. Say “ Ye s ” to confir m the name, or “ No ” to chang e the selection. Finding Speed Dial Numbers Select > Contacts > Speed Dial # ’ s .
Prepend to alter a phone number by adding numbers to the beginning of the entr y . (See “ Prepending a Phone Number From Call History ” on pa ge 57.) Send Contact to send the Contacts entr y via Bluetooth (see page 136). Print to print the Contacts entr y ’ s data b y using Bluetooth.
Er asing a Contacts Entry F r om the List 1. From the Contacts list displa y , highlight the entry you wish to delete and press Options (right softke y). 2. Select Erase Contact > Y es . Assigning Speed Dial Numbers With this f eature, you can dial Contacts directory entries with one key press for locations 2-9.
Assigning an Imag e t o a Contacts Entry Y ou can assign an image to a Contacts entr y . The image is display ed when the entr y calls you. 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select the entry for which y ou want to assign the image and press . 2. Press the navigation key up to highlight the icon and press twice.
Secr et Contacts Entr ies Y ou can hide an entr y ’ s phone number(s) and require your loc k code to edit the entr y by making it secret. The entr y name is still display ed, but the entr y ’ s information is replaced with <Secret> .

Editing an Event on the Calendar T o edit a scheduled event on the calendar , select the W eekly vie w . T o move an ev ent: 1. Highlight the event you w ould like to move and press Options (right softke y) > Move . 2. Use the navigation key to move the event to the date and time you w ould like to and press .
Event List Options While you are displa ying the day ’ s events list, press Options (right softkey) to access the following options: Add Schedule to add an event to the calendar . Add Call Alarm to add a call alarm to the calendar . Add T o Do to add a T o Do item to the T o Do List.

Using Y our Phone ’ s T ools Using the Alar m Clock T o set the alarm cloc k: 1. Select > T ools > Alarm Clock . Note: T o set the alarm clock in a no-service area, press OK (left softkey) in the “Set Current T ime/Date” screen. 2. Select a number and press .
Using the Stopw atch T o start the stopw atch: Select > T ools > More T ools > Stopwatch . Press Start (left softkey) to start the stopwatch. Press Stop (left softkey) to stop the stopwatch. Press Resume (left softkey) to start the stopwatch again.
6. Press Done (left softkey) to save. T ip: Press the left softkey ( On or Off ) to toggle the countdown alarm on and off. This feature is not available while your phone is turned off. Using the W or ld Clock 1. Select > T ools > More T ools > World Clock .
File Manag er File Manager allo ws you to manage your files suc h as pictures, videos, music and applications stored in the memories of both your phone and microSD car d. With this f eature, you can sort, move, er ase, impor t, rename and open files more easil y .
Using File Manager Options When you are na vigating files and folders in the file manager , several user options ar e available by pressing Options (right softkey): Move to move the file fr om the cur rent folder to another folder . Move to microSD to move the file to y our microSD card (if available).
Sorting the F older Contents 1. Select > T ools > File Manager > Phone or microSD . 2. Select the folder that inc ludes the content you want to sort and press . 3. Press Options (right softke y) > Sort by . 4. Select an item ( Name , Size , or Date ) and press .
Do wnloading Thr ough the W eb Wirelessly Y our phone allows you to download imag es (screen savers), ringers, games, etc., from a W eb site. T o download a file fr om the My Content menu: 1. Select > My Content > Options (right softke y). 2. Select Get New .
Downloaded D ata Options Selecting Download Set tings This featur e is available when you select a J ava application. 1. Select > My Content . 2. Select Games or Applications . 3. Highlight the data for whic h you want to select settings and press Options (right softke y).
Erasing the Do wnloaded Data 1. Select > My Content . 2. Select a folder and pr ess . 3. Highlight a file and press Options (right softkey). 4. Select Erase . 5. Select Ye s to erase the data in the folder you select. T ip: T o erase all data in the folder , select Erase All during step 4 above.
9. V oice Services Using V oice-Activ at ed Dialling Y ou can use a voice dial tag to automatically dial a phone number in your Contacts. Y our phone can store up to 30 voice dial tags. Note: Please set the V oice Guide feature (see page 34) to On before using the voice-activated dialling so that you can hear the voice instruction from the phone.
V oice Dial T ag Options 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select a Contacts entry for which y ou would like to review the voice dial tag and press . 2. Press Options (right softke y) > Set V oice T ag . 3. Select an option and press : Play to play the selected v oice dial ta g.
T o recor d a voice memo with the phone closed: 1. Press the Side Camera key . 2. Highlight Voice Memo using the Side V olume key and press the Side Camera key . 3. Start recording after the beep. T o end the recor ding of your voice memo with the phone closed: Press the Side Camera key .
Erasing V oice/Call Memos T o erase an individual voice/call memo: 1. Select > V oice Memo > List . 2. Select Voice(Phone) or microSD (if available). 3. Highlight the memo you want to er ase and press Options (right softkey) > Erase > This > Y es .
Set ting the Recording Mode This featur e allows you to match the sensitivity of the microphone to the type of recording y ou are making. 1. Select > V oice Memo . 2. Press Settings (right softke y) > Recording Mode . 3. Select one of the following options and pr ess : Dictation to record a single v oice.
Set ting Up Screen Call This featur e ena bles you to scr een incoming calls b y using a recorded announcement, either one that is pr e-recorded or one that you hav e recorded. Y ou can also r ecord the caller ’ s message into the V oice data list. Note: Recorded caller’ s messages become “.
Recording Y our Name for a Pr e-Recorded Announcement 1. Select > V oice Memo > Screen Call > Announcement . 2. Highlight Pre-Recorded and press Edit (right softkey) > Record Name . If your name has alread y been recorded, select Ye s or No for ov erwr iting.
1 0. micr oSD Car d Using Y our Phone ’ s microSD Car d and A dapt er Using the micr oSD Card Y our phone is equipped with a 128MB microSD memor y card and adapter to e xpand the phone ’ s av ailable memor y space. It allows you to easil y store images, music, voice memo, and Contacts data in your phone.
Inserting the micr oSD Card T o insert the micr oSD card into y our phone: 1. Face up the speaker of y our phone, open the microSD slot cover , and insert a microSD card into the slot with the triangle marking f acing up (with the gold terminals facing down).
Note: The microSD card and its adapter can be easily damaged by improper operation. DO NOT touch the terminals (connection surface) directly with hands when inserting, removing, or handling them. The microSD card slot cover may come off if forcibly pulled.
Using the micr oSD A dapter The supplied microSD adapter allows microSD cards to be used in SD-compatible devices. Before using the SD-compatible host, you will need to insert the microSD card into the microSD adapter .
micr oSD Settings Cr eating Folders in the micr oSD Card The following steps allo w your phone to create default f older s for storing files in your micr oSD card. 1. With the micr oSD card inser ted, select > T ools > File Manager > microSD Options .
micr oSD Files Displaying Y our microSD Files All the files stored in y our microSD card are accessible through your microSD files men u. T o access the microSD files: 1. With the micr oSD card inser ted, select > T ools > File Manager > microSD .
Set ting Up the Digital Pr int Order F or mat The Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) is a tool that allows you to set up your digital picture print orders in advance. Y ou can use it to set options such as whic h pictures to pr int, the number of prints for each pictur e, and index print settings.
Clear ing the DPOF Pr int Order Y ou can clear the DPOF Print Order for standar d pr ints and inde x pr ints at the same time. 1. With the micr oSD card inser ted, select > T ools > File Manager > microSD Options > DPOF Print Order . 2. Select Clear Order .
Connecting Y our Phone to Y our PC Befor e using your phone ’ s mass storage capabilities, you need to prepare y our device ’ s data services to synchronise with y our desktop or laptop computer . Once the phone is connected to your PC, y ou can transfer your data in the microSD car d quickly and easily in Mass Storag e mode.
