7 Getting Started Getting Started Step 2 Setting up the r emote commander Inserting the batteries Insert two R6 (size AA) batteries by matching the + and – on the batteries to the diagram inside the battery compartment. Using the remote commander Y ou can use this remote commander to operate this unit and a Sony TV .
8 Getting Started Step 3 Connecting the unit T o a TV that has phono type audio/video input jacks This connection improves pictur e and sound quality and is necessary if you want to use the T rinitron TV Synchro Play function. If your TV does not have audio/video input jacks, skip this step and go to page 8.

Choose a channel between UHF 30 and 39 on the TV , where ther e is no picture and no sound or only a steady r ustling sound.

Before you start… • Connect the LINE-1 IN jacks of the unit to the audio/video output jacks of your TV (see “Additional connection” on page 7).
Basic Operations 19 Basic Operations T o recor d NTSC colour system programmes NTSC colour signals can be recor ded on this unit. For tape speed, select SP or EP in step 4. EP pr ovides recor ding time three times as long as SP , however , SP produces better picture quality .

39 Editing AUDIO DUB Audio dubbing This feature lets you r ecord over the normal audio track. The monaural sound previously r ecorded is r eplaced while the original hi-fi sound remains unchanged. Use this feature to add commentary to a tape that you have recor ded with a camcorder .
