1 Chapter 1 Introduction The TF 5100 PVR digital receiver is fully compliant with the international Digital V ideo Broadcasting (DVB) standar d, and can receive digital br oadcasts. For its operation, you need an antenna, which must be installed appropriately .
2 Introduction • Y ou can make a favorite list with your favorite channels. • Y ou can view the information of the current television or radio program. • Y ou can update the firmware of the digital receiver to the latest version, which will be provided by the manu- facturer .
1.2 Controlling the digital receiver 3 TV/STB OK REM OTE STA NDB Y TV/STB lamp lights up while your video recorder operates instead of the digital receiver . See § 3.2.3 for more description. REMO TE lamp lights up whenever you press a button of the remote contr ol.

12 Setup 2.4 Connecting up your digital receiver There ar e several ways to set up the digital receiver . Set up the digital receiver suitably to your television and other appli- ances. If you have any problem with your setup or need help, contact your dealer .
2.4 Connecting up your digital receiver 13 quality . If your television does not have the matching connec- tor then use the next connector in the following order for best picture quality . 1. SCART connector ( TV ) 2. S-V ideo connector ( S-VIDEO ) 3.
14 Setup T o use the S-V ideo connector Y ou will need to obtain a S-V ideo cable to use the S-V ideo connector . Plug one ends of the cable into the S-VIDEO socket on the digital receiver , and the other end into the matching socket on your television.
2.4 Connecting up your digital receiver 15 T o use the RF connector If your television does not have any video and audio input, you will need to use the radio frequency output fr om the dig- ital receiver . In this case, you will need to connect a ca- ble from the RF OUT socket to the antenna connector on your television.

17 Chapter 3 Preference Settings 3.1 Language settings Y ou can designate languages for menus, audio tracks and sub- title tracks. Select the System Setting > Language Setting menu. Menu language The digital receiver supports a lot of menu languages: Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, Russian, T urkish and so forth.
18 Preference Settings lect a language, the menu will be immediately displayed in the selected language. Subtitle language Set the 1st Subtitle Language and the 2nd Subtitle Language options to your choices.
3.2 V ideo and audio settings 19 T o configure the video and au- dio settings, select the System Setting > A/V Output Setting menu. 3.2.1 T elevision standard The digital receiver supports two types of television standar d. One is the P AL standard, and the other is the NTSC stan- dard.
20 Preference Settings should set the Video Output option to your desired color model. If you have connected them by RCA connector at which VIDEO reads on the back panel of the digital r eceiver , you do not have to set this option because the digital receiver outputs CVBS video through RCA connector independent of SCAR T connec- tor .
3.2 V ideo and audio settings 21 Y ou can enjoy well both wide-screen pr ograms and normal- screen pr ograms with your wide-screen television as the above figures show . The left figure shows a wide pictur e displayed in the wide screen, and the right figure shows a normal pictur e displayed in the wide screen.

3.3 Local time setting 23 Select the System Setting > Lo- cal Time Setting menu. Y ou can set the local time either as Manual or A uto using Green- wich Mean T ime (GMT). However , it is r ecommended to use the auto setting. T o set the local time using the auto setting, follow these steps: 1.

3.4 Parental control 25 T o specify a basis rating, select the System Setting > P arental Control menu; then you will be asked the Personal Identifica- tion Number (PIN). The number is initially set to ‘0000’. If you wish to restrict 15 or above rated pr ograms, set the Cen- sorship option to 15 (age) .
26 Preference Settings 3.5 Adjusting the on-screen display Y ou can adjust the transparency level of the on-scr een display . Select the System Setting menu and set the OSD T ransparency option as you desire. Its available range is from 0 to 50 percent.
27 Chapter 4 Service Search After connecting up the digital receiver , you will need to per- form a service search. 4.1 Searching broadcasting services T o perform service search, se- lect the Installation > Ser vice Search menu. If you have an antenna booster , you should set the Antenna Supply 5V option to On to supply power to it.
28 Service Search Y ou can search only services of a specific transponder because more than one service ar e provided via one transponder . T o do that, set the Search Mode option to Manual , and then se- lect your desired transponder at the Channel option.
29 Chapter 5 Daily Usage 5.1 V olume control Use the V − and V + buttons to alter the volume to a comfort- able level. Y ou may need to adjust the volume on your tele- vision set too. T o temporarily switch off the sound, press the button.
30 Daily Usage On the service list, you can view the service information as fol- lows: • Service number • Service name • T ransponder information A dollar sign ( $ ) may be marked on some entries, indicating pay service. T o watch pay services, you need the subscription card.

Once you select a audio track, it will be sounded. In addition, you could enjoy audio tracks in four sound modes: Stereo , Mono , Left or Right .
34 Daily Usage Pressing the GUIDE button dis- plays the electronic pr ogram guide, on which you can see the followings: • Scheduled programs • Program summary • Broadcasting date.

7.1 Recording a program 43 7.1 Recording a program Once recor ding has started, a symbol like the left fig- ure will be displayed on the top right of the scr een for a few seconds.

Likewise, once the After ne xt program option is selected, the curr ent recording will stop the moment the next program ends.
7.1 Recording a program 45 7.1.2 Current program recording Y ou can recor d the current pro- gram including the bits that you have already watched as long as you have not changed ser- vices at all. T o do so, select the Recording menu. Y ou can recor d two services at the same time.
46 Recording and Playing 7.1.3 T imer recording Y ou can input a program to be r ecorded at a specific time. Even if the digital receiver is of f, it will turn on and start recor d- ing at the specified time. The digital receiver will turn of f again as the recor ding is finished.
7.1 Recording a program 47 Every Week end means ‘Saturday and Sunday per week’. W eekly means ‘one day per week’. Every Weekda y means ‘from Monday to Friday per week’. If your favorite program is br oadcasted at weekends and you wish to recor d every episode of the program, set the Mode option to Every Week end .
48 Recording and Playing 7.1.4 Scheduling a recording using the program guide If the electronic pr ogram guide is properly pr ovided, you can make timer events on it by tak- ing the following steps: 1. Press the GUIDE button to display the electronic pr o- gram guide.

7.3 Playing back a recording 53 7.3.1 T o play in slow motion T o watch in slow motion during a playback, press the but- ton. If you press it r epeatedly , the playback speed changes in 3 steps: 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 times. T o resume normal speed, press the button.

When there is no pr eset bookmark, pressing the button makes to jump forward 30 seconds at a time. 7.3.4 T o play back a recording repeatedly Y ou can play a recor ding repeatedly both in whole and in part.
