1 Chapter 1 Introduction The TF 600 PVRt digital receiver is fully compliant with the international Digital V ideo Broadcasting (DVB) standar d, and thus is able to receive digital br oadcasts of that standard. For its operation you need an antenna, which must be installed appropriately .

12 Setup If you have any problem with your setup or need help, contact your dealer . 2.4.1 Connecting the antenna Whatever sort of connection you have be- tween the digital receiver and the television, you need to connect the digital receiver to your television antenna so that it can receive digital television services.

2.5 Switching on for the first time 15 T o connect the audio connectors Y ou will need to obtain an audio cable (RCA cable) to connect the audio connectors.
16 Setup 2.5.1 Inserting batteries in the remote control T o insert the batteries, open the battery compartment by remov- ing the lid, and then insert the batteries observing the polarity , which is marked on the base of the battery compartment.
17 Chapter 3 Preference Settings 3.1 Language settings Y ou can select the language in which the menu would be dis- played. In addition to that, you can select which language of au- dio track and of subtitle track should be output. Select the System Setting > Lan- guage Setting menu.
18 Preference Settings Subtitle language Set the 1st Subtitle Language option and the 2nd Subtitle Lan- guage option to your desired languages. When you watch a programme, if the pr ogramme has a subtitle track of the lan- guage that is designated for the 1st Subtitle Language , it will be displayed.
3.2 V ideo and audio settings 19 3.2 V ideo and audio settings Y ou have to configure the video and audio settings appropriately to your television set and other appliances. Select the System Setting > A/V Output Setting menu. Y ou should see a screen like the left figure.

22 Preference Settings 3.2.5 High definition television The digital receiver supports various video r esolutions from 576 to 1080. In general a resolution of 720 or mor e is considered high definition. The higher the resolution is, the better quality you can enjoy .
3.3 Local time setting 23 3.3 Local time setting Y ou should set your local time for timer events. Select the System Setting > Time Setting menu. Y ou should see a screen like the left figur e. Y ou can set the clock manually or use the time signal, Green- wich Mean T ime (GMT), carried as part of the digital television broadcast.

3.5 Adjusting the on-screen display 25 If you wish to block 15 or above rated programmes, set the Censorship option to 15 (age) . Setting it to No bloc k blocks no programme; on the other hand, setting it to T otal bloc k blocks every programme.
26 Preference Settings In addition, you can raise or lower the position of the informa- tion box. Select the System Setting menu and set the Info Bo x P osition option as you desire. Its available range is from − 10 to + 3 lines. The more high you set the option, the mor e low the information box will be positioned.
27 Chapter 4 Service Search After connecting up the digital receiver , you will need to per- form a service search. 4.1 Searching broadcasting services T o perform service search, select the Installation > Ser vice Search menu. Y ou should see a screen like the left figure.
28 Service Search transponder . T o do that, set the Search Mode option to Manual , and then at the Channel option select your desired transponder . The number ranges from 5 to 12 in VHF and 21 to 69 in UHF .
29 Chapter 5 Daily Usage 5.1 V olume control Use the and buttons to alter the volume to a comfortable level. Y ou may need to adjust the volume on your television set too. T o temporarily switch off the sound, pr ess the button. Press it again to r estore the sound to previous level.
30 Daily Usage On the services list, you can see the service information: • Service number and name • T ransponder information A dollar sign ( $ ) may be marked on some entries, indicating pay service. T o watch pay services, you need the subscription card.
5.2 W atching television 31 • T o add the highlighted service into a favourite group, select the Add to F av option; then the favourite groups will be displayed.
32 Daily Usage T o select a favourite service, put the hightlight bar on a desired group and pr ess the button; a highlight bar appears on its favourite services list. Once you select a desired service with the OK button, it will be presented.
5.2 W atching television 33 In addition, you might see the following symbols: • Subtitle symbol ( ) if subtitle tracks are pr ovided on the current pr ogramme. • T eletext symbol ( ) if teletext pages are pr ovided on the current service. • Dolby symbol ( ) if Dolby audio track is porvided on the current pr ogramme.
34 Daily Usage 5.2.5 Selecting subtitle tracks Some programmes ar e provided with subtitle tracks in one or more languages. If the current pr ogramme provides subtitle tracks, the subtitle symbol ( ) will be marked on the informa- tion box. Pressing the button displays available subtitle tracks.
5.4 W atching multifeed programme 35 T o see detailed information of a desired pr ogramme, put the highlight bar on your choice with the or button and press the button.
36 Daily Usage When you do this, you are no longer watching the live pro- gramme, instead you are watch- ing a delayed presentation of it. This is called time shifted tele- vision. Then, you can skip com- mercials until you catch up to the live broadcast.
5.6 Using picture in picture 37 • T o make a recording of what is in time shift, see § 7.1.4 . • T o end time shift, press the button. The live pro- gramme will be presented. When time shift option is disabled and pause is kept for more than 10 seconds, the time shift feature will be switched on to stop you loosing part of the programme.
38 Daily Usage 4. Pressing the button moves the sub-picture counter - clockwise, and pressing the button moves it clock- wise. 5. Pressing the SA T button swaps the main picture with the sub-picture. Even when you play back a recording, you can watch a live programme in the sub-pictur e.
39 Chapter 6 Listing Services 6.1 Editing the services list Y ou would have got the services list after service search. Y ou can rename, move, lock or delete service entries on the services list. Select the Organizing Svc/F av > Organizing Ser vices menu.
40 Listing Services T o edit the radio services list, press the button; then radio service entries will be listed on the right column. T o switch back to the television services list, press it again. T o change the name of a service, select the Rename and select a desired service; then the on-scr een keyboard appears.

7.1 Recording a programme 51 1. Press the button to display the progr ess bar. 2. T o move to the beginning of the desired scene, hold down the or button until it is reached. 3. Press the button to start recor ding. The time shift buffer fr om that position onwards will now be recor ded.
52 Recording and Playing 7.2 File archive When a programme is r ecorded, it is stored as a file on the built-in hard disk drive of the digital r eceiver . Y ou can select a recor ding to play back from the recor ded programme list. Select the File List menu or alter- natively press the button to display the recor ded programme list.
7.2 File archive 53 7.2.3 T o lock a recording T o lock a recor ding so that other people cannot play it, perform the following steps: 1. Put the highlight bar on a desired recor ding. 2. Press the F4 button to display the additional options.
54 Recording and Playing 7.3 Playing back a recording When a programme is r ecorded, its additional contents such as audio tracks or teletext are also r ecorded together . So you can enjoy them while playing back a recor ding. The instructions on how to play a recor ding are as follows: 1.
7.3 Playing back a recording 55 • T o go forward, hold down the button; to go backward, hold down the button. • T o bookmark a position, refer to § 7.3.4 . • If there ar e no bookmarks, you can jump forward 30 seconds at a time by pressing the F3 button.
56 Recording and Playing 7.3.4 T o make a bookmark Y ou can mark favourite parts of a recor ding by creating book- marks, and then jump to them. Y ou can have up to 64 book- marks. Bookmarks are stored with the recor ding so that you can use them again afterwards.

Move to the end scene; the part is marked in purple. 5. Press the button again, then the part turns green, and repeated playback starts.
58 Recording and Playing On the recor ded programme list, a purely gr een $ indicates the recor ding has been wholly descrambled; on the other hand, a yellowish green $ indicates it has been partially descrambled, and a purely yellow $ indicates it has not been descrambled at all.

8.1 Configuring the router 63 NOTE The web server and FTP server of the digital receiver don’t work in standby mode. So it must be powered up all the time if you wish to use the web service at any time.
64 Accessing to The Digital Receiver via The Internet 8.1.2 T o access on the level of the Internet When you are away fr om home, you can access the digital receiver inside your home if your r outer is configured to route access to the digital receiver by means of port forwar ding.
8.1 Configuring the router 65 1. Make an account on a web site providing DDNS service, which should be supported by your router . 2. Configure your r outer with the account so that it can communicate with the web site. Whenever a new dynamic IP address is assigned to the r outer , it will inform the DDNS service provider of the new IP addr ess.

Y ou had better refer to the manual of your router for understanding of technical terminology .

8.3 Accessing the web server 71 Y ou cannot only download but also upload recor ding files or MP3 files in the File Management page. However , if you wish to download or upload a file of which size is 2 gigabyte or more, it is r ecommended to use the FTP server rather than the web server .
