11 Introduction Connections Basic Setup Some differences Because of its recording capacity and hard disc drive (HDD), this D VD recorder operates more like a computer and diff erently than a standard D VD player .
12 Choosing a disc When you want to pla y D VD or CD software or copy pr ograms from the HDD to a recor dable D VD , load an appropriate disc into the recor der . There are many types and formats of discs. Please use the following information to select an appr opriate disc.

14 On D VD-RAM discs Use only D VD-RAM discs that comply with D VD- RAM standard V ersion 2.0 or 2.1. The recorder cannot record on a disc f ormatted in any other standard. When using such a disc, initialize it by using the disc-f ormat function of this recorder.

16 Playbac k side On handling discs Do not touch the pla yback side of the disc. Do not stick paper or tape to discs . On c leaning discs Fingerpr ints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration. Wipe the disc from the center outwards with a soft cloth.
