3 Setting up your co mputer 26 English Arranging a comfortable work area Working safely and comfortably begins with the arrangement of your work space and the proper use of equ ipment. For this reason, it is very important to take time and think abou t how you are going to arrange your wo rk area.

3 Setting up your co mputer 28 English Connecting the computer Setting up your comp uter is easy. For the most part, you only h ave four things to connect: the mouse, the keyboard, the monitor, and the power ca ble. Note: The periph erals shown in the connections below are for your reference only.
29 English Connect a monitor To connect a monitor, simply plug th e monitor c able into the DVI port located on the rear panel of your comput er. If you have a monitor that supports S-video , plug the monito r cable t o the S-v ideo po rt located on the rear pane l of your computer.
3 Setting up your co mputer 30 English Individual network configuration Connect one end of the network cable on the n etwork port on the rear of the computer, then conn ect the other end of the network cable into the cable modem or netwo rk jack or hub on your network.

Follow the procedure below. 1 Turn on the ma in power switch located on the rear of the c omputer.

61 English 5 Align the DIMM so that the notch on the slot fits the keyed edge of the module, then press the modu le at both ends to seat it fully into the slot (1) . If you insert a DIMM but it does no t fit easily into the slot, you h ave inserted it incorrectly.
