3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES DANGER: This machi ne was built to be operated according to the rules for safe operat ion in this manual. As with any type of powe r eq uipment, carelessness or error on the part of the operator can result in serious injury.

5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWE R Un packing • Remove s taples from the top, sides, a nd ends of the shipp ing crate. • Set panels aside to avoid tire punctures or persona l inj ur y. • Remove and di scard plastic bag that cov ers unit.
6 Fi gur e 3 • Unwrap the head light wire which is attached to the headlig ht, beneath the handl e panel. Wind the headlig ht wi re arou nd the lower right handle until excess sl ack is removed. See Fi gure 4. • Plug the wire from the head light into the alternator lead comi ng from the right side of the eng ine underneat h the fuel tank.
7 Fi gur e 5 Tire Pre ssure (Pn eumatic Tire s) The tires are overinflated for shipping pu rposes. • Check tire pressure. Maintain pressure between 10 and 14 ps i. NOTE: If the tire p r e ssure is not equal in all tires, th e unit may pull to one side or th e other.
8 Tractio n Control / Auge r Co ntrol Lo ck The traction control is locate d on the right handle. Squeeze the traction control to engage the wheel d rive. Re l eas e to st op. This same lever also locks t h e auger control so you can operate the chute crank without interrupting the snow throwing process.
9 SECTION 4: OPERATING Y OUR SNOW THROW ER Befo re Start in g Read and unders tand all instructions and warnin gs on the machine and in t his manual bef or e o perating. Gas & O il Fill-Up • Service the engine wi th gasoline and oil as instructed in the engine manual shippe d with the snow thrower.
10 Recoil St arter: With engin e running, pull star ter rope with a r apid, continuou s f u ll arm strok e three or f our times. Pulling the s tar ter rope will produce a loud clattering sound , whi ch is nor ma l. • Move throttle cont rol to “ st op ” or “ off ” po siti o n.
11 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS Shift R od Fi gur e 8 • Remove th e hairpin cl i p and flat washer from the shift handle under the handle panel. See Figure 8. • Place shift lever in sixth (6) position or fastest forward speed. • Push shift arm assembl y down as far as it wi ll go.
12 Skid Sh oe The space between the shave plate and the ground can be adjusted by raising o r lowering the skid shoes. For close snow remov al, as when using on a smooth concrete or aspha lt dri veway, place the skid shoes in the low position. Use the middle or high po siti o n when the area to be cleared is uneven.
13 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR SNOW THROWER Gener al Recommendat ions • Always observ e safety rules when performing any main tenance. • The warranty on this snow thrower does not cover items that have been subjecte d to operator abuse or negligen ce.
14 Figu re 15 Tractio n Control / Auge r Co ntrol Lo ck The cams on th e ends of the control rods which interlock the traction drive and aug er d rive clutches must be lubricated at least once a season or every 2 5 hours of operation using a m ulti-purpose au tomotive grease.
15 SECTION 7: SERVICING YOU R SNOW TH ROWE R Auge rs The augers are secured to the spiral shaft with two shear bolts and hex lock nut s. If you hit a foreign object or ice jam, the snow thrower is designed so that the bolts may shear. Refer to Figure 13.
16 Figu re 19 • Lift the rear auger belt from the aug er pulley, and slip the belt be tween the support bracket a nd the auger pulle y. Repeat for the front auger belt. See Figure 20. • Replace both a uger drive belts by following instructions in reverse order.
