1 1 I. TYPES OF SYSTEMS This manual covers three [3] of the basic ty pes of systems offered by AVTEC - Baffle Filter [AF], Modular Grease Extractor [AX ] and Auto W ash Down [AW ]. A.Baffle Filter [AF Series] [See fig. #1 ] Model AF ventilators are listed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
2 integral water wash system cleans the inside of the grease extraction cham ber either by manual activation of the W ash Start button or by a programm able timer. The duration of the wash is electrically controlled. The wash system is also activated by an electrical therm ostat or a manual switch in the event of a fire condition.
3 Fig 4 E.The hood should be hung so that the bottom of the hood is 6'-6" ab ove the finished floor unless otherwi se specified. Caref ully lift the hood into position being certain to avoid scratching the finished surfac es. Install 1/2" threaded rod from each brack et and the structural support.

5 IV. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIO NS A.VCW Control Panel [Refer to fig. 7] 1.Typical field connection terminals for VCW Control Panel are shown in f ig. 7. For custom features such as s equentia l wash, tim e delay , etc. ref er to AVT EC shop drawing in back of this manual.
6 4.Term inal Block #2 [TB- 2] has three [3] pairs of terminals and is located at the upper right corner of the Input/Output Board. The first pair of terminals are for the number one wash valve solenoid. T his will be the only wash output active in a P-10-__ or P-15-__ Control Panel.
7 9.Term inal Block #11 [TB-11] has three [3] pairs of terminals. The f irst pair of term inals are low voltage connections for the detergent low level probe. T he probe should be installed in the dete rgent container so that it does not protrude above the top of the detergent pump inlet strainer.

11 VI. OPERATION A. VCW Control Panel [Refer to fig. 16] 1.Adjustm ent The component lay out is s hown below. T he only adjustm ent neces sary is for the auto wash timer relay.

13 started and stopped manually or programm ed or automatic operation. a. Fan Start The exhaust and air mak e-up f ans can be started manually by pressing "FAN ON/WASH OFF" on the PAW S panel. If the wash cy cle is in progress it will stop im mediately and the fans will start.
14 The PAW S Control Panel is equipped with an integral clock which can be used to automatically operate the f an and wash cycles. To s et the time press "RETURN CLOCK" once. The display will read "SET DAY AND TIME SELECTED" and then change to "SET DAY AND T IME" as well as the day and tim e.
15 "SAVE ENTER" to retain that tim e. Press "RETURN CLOCK" to return to Nor m al Display . d. Review ing The Daily Event Schedule The Daily Event Schedule is a program which will autom atically turn the fans on and off and/or initiate the PAW S up to four [4] times each day.
16 h. Fan On During Recovery The operator can choose to have the fan on during PAW S recovery periods or rem ain off . To have the fan com e on during r ecovery , push down the right side of switch number one of the selector swi tch. T o have the fan rem ain off during recovery, push down the left side of switch number one of the selector switch.

18 l. Detergent Pump and T ank Term inals No. 23 and 24 of AVTEC term inal strip supply 120vac power to the detergent pump during the W ash Cy cle[s]. T he pump does not run during the Fire Cycle nor when the detergent level is below the bottom of the probe.
19 [Ref er to fig. 21] Grease extractor m odules are installed by s liding the top [narr ow] part of the module into the upper retaining slot and then lowering the bottom part of the module into the grease trough slot. fig. 21 NOTE: Handle faces towards capture area.
20 To adjust air intak e slot, turn nuts to loosen, move air adjustm ent baffles up or down until the desired slot opening is obtained, and tight en nuts.

22 D. Grease Collection Receptacle Should be em ptied at least once a day , and cleaned daily with a strong detergent. E. Hood Canopy 1. Inside hood canopy should be wiped down as needed. T he area at the exhaust intake openings should be wiped dow n daily .
