18 4 Operating the appliance The operating mode, operating time and switch -off time can be selected by pressin g the corr espondin g button o nce or m ore. • The symbol for the functi on se lected illuminates or flashes. • Turn the adjusting knob to change the setting.
4 Operating the appliance 19 4.1 Using for the first time Before operating the newly installed appl iance for the firs t time, the following steps should be taken: ➤ Remove packaging and transp ort ma terials from the cookin g space. ➤ If flashes in the display, turn the adjusting knob to set the time.
4 Operating the appliance 20 4.2 Filling the water tank ➤ Fill the water tank up to the «1.25» «Litre » mark with fres h, cold drinking water and slot into position in the w ater tank compartment. • For all operating modes, the filled wa ter tank must be in position in the water tank compartment.
4 Operating the appliance 21 4.3 Selecting and starti ng an operating mode ➤ Press the button repeatedly until the desired operating mode flashes. – The operating mode temper ature appears in the display for 3 seconds. – The operating mode symbol flashes.
4 Operating the appliance 22 4.4 Switching off ➤ Press the button. – A short acoustic signal is emitted . – The operati ng mode symbol go es out. Removing the cooked food from the cooking spac e ➤ Take the food out of the cooking space when done.
4 Operating the appliance 23 4.5 Emptying the water ta nk When the appliance is switched off, th e residual water is pumped back into the water tank. ➤ When the water has been pumped back, remove , empty and then dry the water tank. Risk of scalding! The water in the water tank can be hot .

5 User settings 26 5.1 Childproof lock The childproof lock i s to prevent the appliance bei ng inadvertently s witched on. If an attempt is made to select an o perating mode, – a double acoustic signal i s emitted – nothing happens when the button is pressed – appears in th e display.
5 User settings 27 5.3 Acoustic signal The acoustic signal can be set at one of two leve ls of loudness or can be switched off. 5.4 Water hardness The appliance features a system that automaticall y indicates when it is time to descale.

6 Time functions 33 6.4 Delayed start The delayed start is activated when fo r the operating mode selected both an operating time and a switch-off time are set. The appliance swi tches automatical ly on and off agai n at the desired times. ➤ Place the food i n the cooking space.

38 8 Tips and tricks 8.1 Steaming ➤ Place the stainless steel tray underneath the per forated cooking tray to catch food spills and condensate. ➤ To save energy, a varie ty of food can be coo ked at the same time, e.g. r ice or pulses together with vegeta bles with similar cooking times.
39 9 Care and maintenance 9.1 Cleaning the ext erior ➤ Remove any soiling or excess cleaning solutio n immediately. ➤ Clean the surfaces wi th a soft cloth damp ened with water and a little washing-up liquid – for metallic surfac es rub in the direction of the original polish lines.
9 Care and maintenance 40 9.4 Cleaning th e appliance door ➤ Clean the appliance door with a soft cloth dampened with wa ter and a little washing-up liquid. Dry with a so ft cloth. Removing the appliance door ➤ Open the appliance d oor as far as it will go.
9 Care and maintenance 41 9.5 Cleaning the accessories and shelf guides • Th e stainless steel tray, the perfor ated cooking tray and the shelf guides can be cleaned in the dishwasher. • W atermarks on the water tank can be re moved using a standard descaler.
9 Care and maintenance 42 9.6 Cleaning the cooking space ➤ Any condensate or debris in the cooking space must – after each cooking session with steam – be complete ly removed. ➤ Remove any soiling fro m the cooking space while stil l hand warm using a soft cloth dampened with water and a li ttl e washing-up li quid.
43 10 Descaling Whenever steam is produced, de pending on the hardness of the local water supply (i.e. the limescale content of the water), limescale is deposite d in the boiler. The appliance automatical ly recognizes when descaling is necessa ry. – flashes in the display.
10 Descaling 44 Durgol swiss stea mer decalcifier «durgol swiss steamer» was developed especially fo r this appliance. Standard descaling solutions are not suita ble as they may contain foam-creating additives or not be ef fective enough.
